Some Las Vegas locals have long referred to the city as a “basketball town.” The championship caliber Runnin’ Rebels of the early 90’s, NBA Summer League, summertime high school hoops tournaments and NCAA basketball conference tournaments have all factored into Vegas sports culture.
Although the basketball ties are rich, the first professional sports team in town, the Vegas Golden Knights, their tremendous Stanley Cup Final run in 2017-18 and the newfound minor league hockey team in the Henderson Silver Knights has some referring to Vegas as a “hockey town.”
No matter which way you see it, there’s a promotion supporting the newest Southern Nevada team, the Silver Knights who were formerly in the Chicago suburbs playing as the Wolves and will start their first American Hockey League season early next month.
This month features the Henderson Silver Knights for the “Gift Giveaway.” A two-tone hat can be picked up on Jan. 21. A black Henley shirt is the gift on Jan. 28.
