Cinco de Mayo celebrations and the Kentucky Derby make it an exciting week in Las Vegas!
We start off with El Cortez hosting a special Cinco de Mayo celebration all day on Friday, May 5. Guests who purchase a $5 Patron drink from any casino bar receive a ticket for complimentary tacos or guacamole and chips.
Between 11 a.m. and noon, guests will enjoy free chips and salsa at all bars with purchase of Patron. Those guests will receive a ticket for street tacos or guacamole and chips, to be redeemed at a taco stand outside of Ike’s Bar on Fremont Street. A mariachi band will stroll throughout the casino playing music from 9 to 11 p.m.
Additionally, casino guests can earn 1,500 slot base points that day and receive a free $20 bet on the Kentucky Derby race. There will be a complimentary Derby viewing party this Saturday in the Fiesta Room with $5 mint julep specials all day.
Cinco de Mayo at Cabo Cantina Mexican Restaurants inside Boulder Station, Sunset Station and Santa Fe Station will offer half-price chicken fajitas, $2 bottle of Dos Equis beer, $3 Sauza tequila shots, and $5 Sauza margaritas. Fiesta Henderson will host a Derby seminar, led by race experts Jerry J. and Ralph Siraco, from 1 to 3 p.m. this Thursday in the property’s racebook. Everyone 21 and older is welcome, and there will be giveaways throughout the free event.
The Grand Ballroom will be the site for the official viewing party for the Derby on Saturday with doors opening at 9 a.m. Horse racing fans can take advantage of various food specials and receive complimentary drink tickets by placing bets at designated wagering stations located throughout the ballroom. In addition, guests can take part in an All Under One Roof $5,000 Twin Quinella that day.
Participants who choose the first two finishers correctly have a chance to win $5,000. Racing enthusiasts have the opportunity to learn handicapping tips and tricks from professional handicapper Patrick McQuiggan and meet special guests Emily Haskin and Rachel McLaughlin, both with Hoosier Park Racing & Casino. This event is free and open to the public, 21 and up.
