Normally in this column I write about a specific restaurant or place that I went to recently. Yes, I do eat out a lot, but this week I’m not writing about any one place in particular. Rather, I’m talking about a major event-taking place in Las Vegas.
When you combine good food with a great cause what could be better? One of my favorite weeks every year here in Las Vegas is Restaurant Week. This year it runs June 19-30. Restaurants all across the valley participate in this event for the benefit of Three Square, which has been putting it on for 11 years.
Restaurants put together special prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner offerings. It is a great way to sample some of Las Vegas’ finer restaurants at a great price. A portion of the price of every meal sold is donated to Three Square.
One meal purchased during Restaurant Week can provide up to 18 meals to the less fortunate here in Southern Nevada. Since 2007, through the proceeds generated from Restaurant Week, Three Square has been able to supply 3.6 million meals for those in need.
Great restaurants taking part in this year’s Restaurant Week include Alize, Allegro, Andiron Steak & Sea, AquaKnox, Aurele, Austin’s Steakhouse.
Also, Bazaar Meat, Beauty & Essex, Beer Park, Borracha Mexican Cantina, Bouchon Bistro, Brattain, Buddy V’s, Chica, Del Frisco’s, Eiffel Tower Restaurant.
Plus, Ferraro’s, Honey Salt, Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak & Stone Crab, Mesa Grill, RM Seafood, Spago, The Capital Grille, and Yard Bird.
And that’s just a few of them; there are over 150 participating. Some offer both a lunch and dinner menu.
The beauty of Restaurant Week is there are so many great restaurants in Las Vegas, and maybe you have wanted to try one of them but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Now you can at a special price.
For example, The Foundation Room high atop Mandalay Bay has a view that’s one of the best in the city. For $50 you can get a three-course dinner and experience that view. You start out your meal with a Caesar or Wedge Salad. Then choose your entree from Pan Roasted Chicken, Shrimp & Grits or Prime London Sirloin. End your meal with a delicious dessert as you get to choose from Fresh Berries or their Dark Chocolate Cake.
Each restaurant has a different price point for their prix fixe menu. Those participating in lunch offerings will have prices of either $20 or $30. Dinner offerings vary from $30 to $80. To see the complete listing of restaurants and the menus with pricing visit www.helpoutdineoutlv.org.
Check out the work Three Square does as 94 cents out of every dollar raised goes to help feed our hungry neighbors. Pick a participating place and help Three Square add to the 3.6 million meals they have been able to give Southern Nevada residents from this event.
