A little bit of Cleveland is headed to Las Vegas--and its thankfully not the Browns--with word that celebrity chef, author, and TV co-host on The Chew Michael Symon will soon open a barbecue eatery at the Palms.
Mabel’s BBQ, Symon’s affordable and casual restaurant, a Northeast Ohio mainstay, is now believed to be taking over space next to the race and sports book on the north side of the casino floor, according to media reports. It’s part of the more than half-a-billion dollar Palms total remodel. Mabel’s BBQ will include a shaded patio beer garden facing Flamingo Road.
Symon’s new barbecue outpost is expected to open sometime this fall.
There’s been no official announcement, however vegas.eater.com reports the Mabel’s house specialty cuts will feature “Bertman’s Ballpark Mustard” infused into the barbecue sauce” along with “Eastern European spices” that will ready meat for smoking over fruitwood. Cleveland pickles, Cleveland kraut and rye bread will also be featured.
Symon, 48, is a Cleveland native known nationally for his exuberant cooking style.
“Bertman’s Ballpark Mustard” has been famous throughout Northeast Ohio for more than 90 years as a Cleveland delicacy and is served at all major city sports venues. To make Cleveland-area residents feel at home, Bertman’s is also featured at the Goodyear, Arizona spring training home of the Cleveland Indians.
