MURPHY’s LAW

1590 E. Flamingo Rd

Phone: 697-0529

When I first saw the sign, my initial thought was "sounds like a 1970’s detective show."

It was the name that made me want to check out Murphy’s Law, which just happens to be an official Arizona Cardinals bar. Larry Fitzgerald, All-Pro wide receiver and frequent Las Vegas visitor, would be happy to know that.

Past online reviews compare Murphy’s to Cheers. I didn’t get that "BAH-STEN" vibe, but for a 2:30 p.m. mid-week stopover, business was surprisingly strong.

Perhaps it was Misty behind the bar. Definitely a sight to behold. Unfortunately, somebody else served me and thought diet coke was a rum and coke. You can imagine my reaction upon first swig.

Anyway, the half pound burger was excellent but don’t order it with provolone. It’s sticky and a bit annoying to bite into. Go with American cheese and you’re fine. It’s a healthy size burger and the fries are abundant. I dare you to eat them all.

The price is in the ballpark with other sports bars like Murphy’s. If you like noisy crowds, this is your spot. I understand there’s a band on Friday nights and lots of contests. Seems like a good Eastside hangout, especially during NFL season if you’re starved.

No lemonade, though.
