It’s only human to absolutely adore Human Nature! They are hot, they are now, and they are solid gold! I got to see one of their Jukebox performances last week and they wowed me once again, singing a great range of pop songs from Doo-Wop to Motown and more. Their shows are packed every performance.
They will be at The Venetian through Dec. 9 and again Dec. 19-30. After the holidays this amazing group will return Jan. 19-Feb. 24, and then they are off on tour starting March 1. Those tour cities will soon learn it’s only human to love Human Nature, too.
Tony Bennett at Wynn Las Vegas – incredible. I think he is the iconic legend of the days that were. At 91, he’s still knocking them out. His voice is fantastic, his demeanor warm, sure, and compassionate. When will I ever tire of Tony Bennett? Never!! I left my heart with him years ago and never wavered in my adoration. Shame on you if you didn’t see this moment of the century!
The wonderful Harry Connick, Jr. is next up at Wynn’s Encore Theater with just two shows this weekend, one Friday and one Saturday. He will do a repeat on Dec. 1 and 2.
Harry, I remember when you first came to town in the early 90’s. You had a full orchestra behind you, and though just a young man, you somehow gave the seasoned performance of a veteran crooner and pianist.
Harry is a magnificent entertainer. I hope he does some of the great American songbook.
SLS for sax
The SLS doesn’t stay in the background much anymore. Saxophonist Boney James comes in Saturday, Nov. 18 and another great sax player, Dave Koz, brings his 20th anniversary Christmas Tour there Dec. 15 and 16.
Coming to the local spots are Richard Cheese (Nov. 17) at the Rocks Lounge at Red Rock Resort; Robert Cray (Dec. 2) and Tidings of Jazz and Joy (Dec. 16) at the Railhead at Boulder Station.
The Palms is getting kitschy with the So You Think You Can Dance on Nov. 17. Holiday Havoc 2017 features The Killers (our home town band) at the Palms Casino on Dec. 11.
Tyson the movie
Mike Tyson – I’ve seen his show and now cannot wait to see his film! The talented Jamie Foxx – who was outstanding in “Ray,” the story of Ray Charles – will portray Iron Mike. He is a special actor who seems to blend into his character and the real Jamie disappears. That is talent!
Whoopie Goldberg herself slammed into town for a fabulously funny and hysterical show on Nov. 10. I remember when she was on Broadway in NYC many years ago. She was a treasure at TI (Treasure Island for those who remember the days of the pirate shows and ships a’sailing on the Strip).
Ballet dances in
Nevada Ballet Theater was on their toes and leaping across the stage for Classic Americana, featuring Company B (songs sung by the Andrew Sisters) and the inimitable ballet master, George Balanchine, choreographing Western Symphony and Serenade with a full live orchestra!
This show, presented at The Smith Center Nov. 11, was incredible. The perfection of the dancers and the orchestra made it a truly memorable evening, one I will treasure – I actually like the ballet!
The famous rock group U2 will bring their eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE tour to T-Mobile Arena on May 11. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Nov. 20. This legendary group is sure to be a sell out so if want to see them, get your tickets early.
Foo Fighters, another cool rock group, will be playing New Year’s Eve at The Cosmopolitan’s Chelsea Theater. Reserve your tickets now as they will not be there if you dawdle.
The night before, Dec. 30, Duran Duran holds court at Chelsea Theater. A lot of hot sounds will be shaking through that property!
Kid Rock (no relation) has his “Greatest Show on Earth Tour” landing at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on March 24. Tickets are already on sale.
My soulful, soccer-happy man with a fashion edge, Rod Stewart – yes, he’s still sexy – returns to his residency home at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace June 12, 15-16, 19, 22-23. Every time I see him I get goose bumps. He is so crowd friendly and a consummate performer, every show has an individual kick to it – soccer balls aside!
I know I am going forward with these events but to be sure you get the best seats you need to plan ahead. I can’t say that enough. So many are disappointed when they wait too long.
