Back to reality? Or was it just a dream carnival? The Electric Daisy Carnival this year seemed to have leveled out to one of fun with overheating incidents avoided by the earlier date. It really went smoothly.
Khalid – who had just won the Billboard Music Award for New Artist – performed. What a party that must have been for his entourage! Congratulations, Khalid!
Speaking of the Billboard Awards, hostess Kelly Clarkson looked magnificent in her sophisticated, sequined, simply styled gown. She stood out from the rest as many of the ladies looked like a flock of birds with feathers descending all around! I even saw white tee shirted men in the audience. Isn’t this supposed to be a “formal attire” affair?
Janet Jackson, who performed prior to receiving the Icon Award, was all in gold and covered up to her neck (giggles at memories of that fateful Super Bowl half-time show years back). She looked positively radiant! Shots of her proud mother Katherine show class and beauty do rule in the Jackson family tree. Congrats, Janet!
Comedy is the tour de force now at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. This past weekend, Jim Gaffigan rocked the stage with laughter with his Fixer Upper Tour. He will be back hammering away on July 20.
Jeff Dunham, always a hoot in his Passively Aggressive show, is here July 11, Aug. 29, and Sept. 12. Steve Martin and Martin Short (the Martin Boys?) will have us laughing our flags off on the July 4 weekend gig on July 1.
Jerry Seinfeld is on board Sept. 7 and 8, and coming up Oct. 7 is crazy Sebastian Maniscalco (Stay Hungry Tour).
And I would be remiss if I did not mention our dearly beloved Celine Dion is back for eight shows beginning tonight (May 29) through June 9. Her talent seems to grow greater with the years, and anyone who has not experienced her magnetism in person should get those tickets today and get ready to see a Vegas icon.
Broadway at Colosseum
The Colosseum, partnering with AEG Presents, has become a mecca for all types of performances, from production shows to singers with full orchestras to comedy. But what I would really love is to see that venue offer is a slam dunk real (not road show) version of “Hello Dolly.” I think it would fill that place up. Imagine – all the right songs, people and fx’s plus the glamour of the Broadway stage right here in Las Vegas – incredible!
Never enough Marilyn
Marilyn! The New Musical began preview performances at Paris Las Vegas last week with a grand opening scheduled for this Friday, June 1, and I cannot wait to see it. I was always a Marilyn fan and have paintings of her lining the walls in one area of my home. I truly hope this show will be a smash!
The Park has booked Stevie Wonder for five shows, Aug. 3, 4, 8, 10 and 11. This amazing man whose talent as a performer, composer and lyricist go way beyond perfection is a true Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member who will be here, in Vegas for the first-time in a long time. Please, listen to Monti – do not miss his show!
And now, I am getting reading to blow out the candles on my birthday cake. My wish is for happiness, health, hope and beautiful horizons for all my friends, readers, supporters, fans, and the special circle of my extended family – that means you, Lu!
