Remember “Night Fever,” the theme song from “Saturday Night Fever” (which included Monti Rock as the DJ)? It was written and performed by the Bee Gees. Taking a little literary license, I’ve been singing it all week.

Come on, sing with me – “Gimme that Knight fever, Knight fever; We know how to do it; Gimme that Knight fever, Knight fever; We know how to show it…”

What a perfect theme song for the Golden Knights who swept the L.A. Kings in the first round playoffs of the Stanley Cup series! The fast and furious, Marc Andre Fleury sliced the ice in this historical season. Go Knights!

High on Opium

Last week, I mentioned the opening of Opium at the Cosmopolitan in the theater next to Rose. Rabbit. Lie. It was fantastic! I felt like I was in Star Trek. It was a sci-fi fantasy-come-true – with a lot of humor and circus-like feats but not like Cirque at all.

There are only a little more than 260 seats in this venue, so you are truly involved in the whole effect of being on a spaceship. It was like being spaced out in another time zone. I hope this show continues with a long run!

Reba rocks at ACM’s

The Academy of Country Music Awards opened this year with a tribute to the 58 people killed at last year’s Route 91 Harvest Festival. It was quite a contrast to the usual boisterous openings – quiet and effective.

A very deserving Jason Aldean won Entertainer of the Year. Jason was the performer on stage when the shooting started at the festival back on Oct. 1. He has become a champion for the cause and is a great country music entertainer.

Reba McEntire looked fabulous in her deep red gown and sparkling red-hued hair. What a lovely vision to have as the host of the CMA. I hope this award show will continue to return to Las Vegas for many years to come.

Other winners included: Album of the Year, “From A Room: Volume 1” (Chris Stapleton); Single Record, “Body Like a Back Road” (Sam Hunt); Song of the Year, “Tin Man,” Miranda Lambert; Male Vocalist, Chris Stapleton; Female Vocalist, Miranda Lambert; Vocal Duo, Brothers Osborne; Vocal Group, Old Dominion.

Congratulations to all the well-deserving winners!

DAMN good

Speaking of music, it was terrific that rap artist Kendrick Lamar won the Pulitzer Prize for music this year for his album “DAMN.” This is the first time a rap artist has won the coveted prize and most likely the first time this genre has even been considered for this highly regarded position.

It took until 1997 for jazz to be recognized when Wynton Marsalis won the Pulitzer for “Blood on the Fields.” Sadly, jazz great Duke Ellington was recommended by the Music Jury in 1965 but snubbed by the Prize Advisory Board. This grievous error was corrected in 1999 when Ellington was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer in special awards and citations.

It took a long time, but the panel of judges is coming into the new age. It is about time!

Make JT a resident

Why hasn’t Justin Timberlake had a residency in Las Vegas yet? He sold out the T-Mobile recently. His shows are brilliant, going from the classic American Songbook to modern showstoppers and he can really dance! His sets are phenomenal and everything that can be handled by today’s electronic geniuses is incorporated into his concerts.

Britney, did you make a mistake years ago by letting Justin go?

Have a great week!
