"Marilyn! The New Musical" exploring the life and lore of Marilyn Monroe debuts at Paris Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip beginning Wednesday.
The musical features 15 original songs plus Monroe classics "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "My Heart Belongs to Daddy."
There's also a interpretation of Monroe's legendary Happy Birthday, Mr. President" sung for President John F. Kennedy on May 19, 1962, at a celebration of his 45th birthday, 10 days before the actual date (May 29).
Actress Ruby Lewis, known for such television series as “Desperate Housewives”, “Masters of Sex”, “Girl Meets World”, “Rules of Engagement” and the Cirque du Soleil production “Paramour”, headlines the production in the plum role of Monroe.
Showtime is 7 pm Tuesdays-Sundays. Tickets range from $49 to $179.
The musical, produced in association with the film star's estate, also features actors and actresses in the roles of people in Monroe's inner circle, including husbands Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller and fellow performers Ella Fitzgerald, Jayne Mansfield and Jane Russell.
A grand opening celebration is scheduled for June 1, which would have been the actress' 92nd birthday. She died of a suspected drug overdose in 1962 at 36.
