Fleming’s fantastic as off-Strip steak site

We have a lot of great steakhouses in Las Vegas both on and off the Strip. Many times I want a great steak but don’t feel like dealing with the parking and traffic so one of my favorite off-the-Strip steakhouses is Fleming’s in Town Square (6515 S. Las Vegas Blvd.). It is right on par with the best steakhouses around.

Happy Hour, from 5-7 p.m., is fantastic with drink and appetizer specials but the real star of the menu at that time is their Prime Burger served with fries for $8. This is one of the best in town and as good or better than those $15 gourmet burgers on the Strip. This is the place to grab a great burger in the bar then head over to the T- Mobile Arena to catch a Golden Knights game as the Town Square location is just minutes away.

The bar area can get quite full for Happy Hour so if you want to go I suggest being there closer to the 5 p.m. side rather than 7. The secret is out and Town Square is always busy.

My favorite steaks at Fleming’s are the Bone-In Filet, Bone-In Rib-Eye and the Prime N.Y Strip. You know how picky I am with my steaks if you are a regular reader of my column. My dad owned a butcher shop so I grew up around beef. I have never been disappointed at Fleming’s. If you want a lean flavorful cut the Bone-In Filet is the way to go.

The filet is the leanest cut of steak and when you get the bone-in version you get extra flavor from the bone marrow while the steak cooks. The Filet just melts in your mouth. The Bone-In Rib-Eye is the most flavorful cut of steak because of the extra marbling in the meat. The N.Y. Strip is right in the middle as far as the leanness of the filet and the marbling of the rib-eye goes. You can’t go wrong with any of these choices and it’s why I usually switch around on each visit.

Many places will be having Super Bowl parties around town to eat and watch the big game. Fleming’s is offering an SB package that takes eating and watching the game to a whole new level. For $65 a person you can watch the game on a big screen TV in their private banquet room with all of the following food items being served – prime rib, shrimp cocktail, filet mignon flatbread, prime meatballs and pasta.

There will also be salad, mac-n-cheese, loaded mashed potatoes and green beans as sides. For dessert they will have cannoli and chocolate truffles. And yes, they will have chicken wings too. I mean, come on, it’s not officially a Super Bowl Party without chicken wings, right?

One thing is for sure, even if you’re holding a losing ticket on the Super Bowl having a meal like this will ease the pain or if you have the winner it will make the celebration even better.

With great food, excellent service and a fabulous Happy Hour I give Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar at Town Square a rating of 3.75 Forks out of 4.
