It’s hard to miss the bright red building, just north of Cheyenne Avenue at 3520 N. Rancho Drive with the words “Bacon Bar” and piggy faces spread across the exterior.
The four-year-old 24-hour dining lounge and video poker bar (formerly Kerry’s Sports Bar) will celebrate its fifth year in business this August. They were recently featured on Spike TV’s show, “Bar Rescue.” This isn’t your ordinary corner bar. They have the capacity for nearly 300 guests.
As one might expect from a place called the Bacon Bar, the menu is loaded with pork and unique bacon infused items. For breakfast, there’s traditional bacon and eggs but you’ll also find Bacon Wrapped Chicken Fried Steak and one dish called “The Slop” ($12.95) featuring their house made fries loaded with ham, bacon, American cheese, two fried eggs, country gravy and fried onions plus your choice of toast. You’d better come hungry for this one!
Appetizers and small bites run the gamut from Man Candy (bacon cooked in candy glaze with Jim Beam Maple reduction) to Roasted Garlic Bacon Buns, Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers, Suicide Fries and the Infamous Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings.
During pro football games, the bar features beer and drink specials plus appetizer and drink combos available for special prices. There are a host of “not-your grandmother’s” Bloody Mary’s concoctions all served with a bacon stick twist or some form of bacon bits. Happy Hour, from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, offers guests a “buy-one, get one” on a choice of 46 draft (many craft) beers. Regular domestic bottled beers are $3 and select discount appetizers are also featured during Happy Hour.
For lunch or dinner, there are specialty pizzas or build your own, plus burgers like the Bacon Bar Burger or the Peanut Butter & Jam Bacon Burger, the Porky Pile (pulled pork) or a Bacon Sloppy Joe. Dinner entrees include Bacon Lasagna, Bacon Beer Battered Fish and The Schnitz – pork loin served with sides and smothered in brown gravy. Desserts and salads are also available.
Golden Gaming issues the Ram Rewards slot club cards available for players at the bar. The bar features 15 machines all with 12 game selections with denominations up to $5. When you join the club, play a bit and the bartender will reward you with a $20 sign-up bonus. Point earning varies by game and denomination but we have learned 100,000 points gets you $100. Regular players will also receive monthly mailers for additional free slot play.
Promotions include a four-of-a-kind wheel spin every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. Hit a four-of-a-kind to spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes up to $1,000. Players can also earn drawing tickets to win an Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ Smoker to be given away on Big Game Day, Sunday, Feb. 4. Service industry employees get a great deal every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. Play $60 on a machine and get $60 in free match play. (Must show proof as a service industry employee.)
The bar area features over 20 TV’s for sports viewing, a pool table, skee ball and dart boards. Call 702-645-8844 for more information or check out the website at http://baconbarlv.com/main/
