Located 25 miles east of San Diego, Viejas Casino & Resort offers guests modern amenities, streamlined design and a handcrafted, boutique feel.

With the opening of a second luxury hotel tower in 2015, Viejas now has over 250 rooms and suites. The resort includes two modern fitness centers, two user-friendly business centers, a luxury pool and spa, nine state-of-the-art meeting spaces, a ballroom and more than seven restaurants, bars and lounges.

The latest addition to the buffet menu is Lobster All Day, every Friday at The Buffet for only $43.99. The V Club card discount applies to your purchase. Unlimited beer, wine and Champagne are included.

The casino offers a wide variety of slots, video poker plus live and electronic table games. They also have a bingo room and off-track betting for horse races.

The four-tiered V Club card starts out at Bronze level with no minimum point requirements, moves to Silver at 20,000 points, then Gold at 100,000 and on to top-tier Platinum at 500,000. Each level adds increased benefits including free play cash offers, loyalty gifts, dining discounts, and invitations to special events. Base points are earned on slots based on coin-in at the following rates:

• $.50 coin in equals one base point on slots.

• $1 coin in equals one base point on video poker

Base points are earned on table games and bingo based on how long and how much you play. Players may use their points for dining, retail, and entertainment purchases. You can also convert your points to free play cash. One thousand points equal $1 in Viejas dining, shopping, retail, or free play cash.

To convert points to free play cash, there is a minimum 5,000-point redemption requirement. Visit the V Club booth for more details. Any bonus points earned or awarded through a promotion do not count toward the determination of other points-based awards, unless otherwise stated.

Current casino promotions include 7X points every Saturday in February from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is a weekly blackjack tournament every Tuesday at 7 p.m. with a guaranteed prize of $500 up to $5,000 free play chips. The entry fee is $25 and is free for qualified players.

Guests 50 and over have a special on Tuesdays. Guests can participate by earning 50 base points of play. Five lucky players will win a share of $2,500 in free play cash with a top prize of $1,000. Golden Tuesday also includes a special bingo package – buy in for any session and receive an additional 6-on card for free; a dining discount – get 10% off the regular menu at The Grove Steakhouse, The Café, and The Buffet.

A Viejas Bowl discount is the $2 game Tuesdays at noon. The Outlets special is a free VIP coupon book with offers worth up to $200. Players can set up an online account to see their account information and receive offers online.

Correction: Regarding last week’s column on the D and Golden Gate, the D no longer offers cash back as an option. Watch for that to reappear for a top-tier benefit in 2019. While Club One is currently a single level card, they plan to launch tiers next year. Golden Gate never offered cash back.
