2026 FIFA World Cup Odds: France, Brazil Among World Cup Favorites

This week marks the start of a big calendar year for soccer fans, as the 2024 Copa America kicks off this summer in the U.S., while Euro 2024 will provide a look at the top teams in Europe. And though plenty will change between now and the long-awaited summer of 2026, when the US, Canada, and Mexico co-host the World Cup, it’s already possible to bet on the winner of that tournament.

Qualification for the 2026 World Cup will take place from October 2023 through March of 2026, but as you can see below, several sportsbooks currently have futures prices for the 2026 World Cup available.

2026 World Cup Betting Favorites

France (+500 at FanDuel)

The loser of one of the best finals in World Cup history has a great chance to make another deep run in 2026. France’s top star, Kylian Mpabbe, will be 27 years old, squarely in his prime, when the next World Cup kicks off. Les Bleus dealt with as much bad injury luck as any team in Qatar in 2022, and still nearly raised the trophy, with wins in knockout play over Poland, England, and Morocco.

In addition to Mbappe, who will likely enter the 2026 World Cup as the Golden Boot favorite, France is expected to return several starters from the 2022 World Cup final, including Adrien Rabiot, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Dayot Upamecano.

Brazil (+600 at DraftKings)

Brazil will be one of the most intriguing teams in the 2026 World Cup. Assuming he stays healthy the next few years, Neymar, who will be 34, will be looking to avenge his team’s disappointing finishes in 2014, 2018, and 2022. Neymar is currently recovering from knee surgery he had in September, and it’s unclear whether we’ll see him return to a top European league after moving to Saudi club Al Hilal last summer.

Brazil entered the quarterfinals in Qatar as one of the favorites to win it all, but suffered a shocking loss to Croatia in the quarterfinals, and it’s currently unclear who they’ll have as manager. Brazil also face questions about whether the likes of midfielder Casemiro, left back Danilo, and Marquinhos will be able to start in 2026, but they have plenty of young talent in Vinicius, Lucas Paqueta, Richarlison, Raphinha, and Eder Militao.

England (+800 at Caesars)

Many of the stars of England’s 2022 World Cup roster will be in their prime in 2026, including midfielders Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham, as well as forward Bukayo Saka, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone if captain Harry Kane (currently 30) once again leads the way up top.

England have all the pieces needed to win it all, but they’ll have to find a way to come through with clutch goals to win the 2026 World Cup after a missed PK doomed them against France in the quarters in 2022. Gareth Southgate’s team also came up just short against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semifinals and Italy in the finals of Euro 2020.

Argentina (+1000 at DraftKings)

It’s impossible to talk about 2026 World Cup contenders without mentioning Argentina, even if Lionel Messi is unlikely to suit up in 2026 (he’ll be 37 in June, and 39 by the time the 2026 World Cup wraps up). Argentina could also lose manager Lionel Scaloni, who recently indicated he may step down from the position. Still, even if Argentina have to replace Messi and Scaloni, they’ll be dangerous thanks to midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Alexis Mac Allister, as well as forward Julian Alvarez and keeper Emiliano Martinez, among other returning players who played a big role in this team winning the 2022 World Cup.

How To Bet on World Cup Odds

In addition to spreads, moneylines, totals, and futures bets, there are other fun ways to join the soccer wagering action for this year’s World Cup.

Parlay Bets

Parlays feature multiple bets (or legs) in a single wager that can increase your amount of winnings. Parlay odds increase with each leg you add to the wager. A $100 bet on a successful three-team parlay pays $600, and a winning four-team parlay returns $1,100. Take advantage of Gaming Today’s free parlay calculator. It will show you the implied probability of winning your parlay, odds, and the potential payout.

Prop Bets

Prop bets are also plentiful when it comes to World Cup betting. Prop bets are not directly tied to the outcome of a game or tournament. There are individual prop bets on players to score a goal, for example. There are team prop bets on the number of yellow cards or corner kicks a team will have in a match.

You can also bet on the winner of the Golden Ball (MVP) and Golden Boot (Leading Scorer) at the end of the World Cup.

Bet Tracking

The practice of tabulating your betting history. Advanced bet Tracking for sports betting is essential because numbers are king. Properly Monitoring and tracking your bets makes you gambling royalty. Sports gamblers, novices, and veterans alike are guaranteed to improve their game with this simple hack.

World Cup Odds FAQ

Is it legal to bet on the World Cup online?

Yes. Online sportsbooks such as BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars Sportsbook, and PointsBet are licensed operators in several states across the US. We recommend all of them as top options for betting on the World Cup. The strength of their sports betting apps relative to other options on the market put them in a class by themselves.

How do you read soccer odds?

Soccer odds are typically listed as a three-way moneyline. Bettors can choose either team to win, or they can bet on a draw. Payouts for the three-way moneyline are based on the score as of the end of 90 minutes plus extra time. If Qatar and Ecuador draw in the FIFA World Cup opener on November 20, that would be a loss for bettors that chose either team.

Is it safe to place a World Cup bet online?

Yes. Betting with a licensed sportsbook that is overseen by a state gaming commission is 100% safe. These include BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet, and Caesars. The only way you’re vulnerable online is by using illegal (offshore) sportsbooks because they operate in a gray market. They don’t answer to any regulatory or oversight body. With a licensed sportsbook, you can file a dispute with your state gaming commission if a dispute arises. They ensure fair business practices and prompt payouts.

Do online sportsbooks offer live betting on the World Cup?

Yes. The best live-betting sports platforms can be found at well-established sportsbooks such as BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, and PointsBet. The speed of these sports betting apps helps provide an enjoyable live-betting experience. Other apps on the market can tend to lag, which makes in-game betting very problematic given its fast-paced nature. DraftKings Sportsbook offers up to $1,200 for new users betting on the World Cup.

What kind of prop bets can you make on the World Cup?

There are so many different prop bets to make on the World Cup. It’s safe to say that there is something for everyone. Individual player props are available on the number of goals and shots a player will have during a game. Tournament props involve futures odds on the winner of the Golden Ball award (MVP) and Golden Boot award (highest scorer). You can even bet on the number of corner kicks or yellow cards a team will have in a game.

Who is the current 2026 World Cup favorite?

As of January 3, 2024, France and Brazil are the betting favorites at DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars. Always shop around for the best odds on your World Cup bets.

Where is the 2026 World Cup?

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Matches will take place at various stadiums across the three host nations.

Where can I bet on the World Cup?

Some of the online options where you can bet on the World Cup include BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars Sportsbook, and PointsBet.
