Best bet365 NBA Finals Bets from Aron Wattleworth

When bet365 first posted NBA futures odds near the end of the 2024 playoffs, the Boston Celtics opened at +400. But bet365’s trading leader shortened the odds of a repeat once the historic franchise cut the nets down.

“After winning the title last year in the fashion they did, they moved to +300, where they have stayed for some time now,” Wattleworth said. “So far, approximately 35% of all action in the market is on the Celts to repeat.”

He expects an all-in approach from the champs.

“With an ownership group looking to sell part or whole of their stake, a large luxury tax bill, and a lot of high-paid stars, the window for Boston may not last too long,” he said.

NBA Championship Odds

Wattleworth says the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, and Indiana Pacers all see decent support for their prices, but they don’t top the list of favorites at bet365

Philadelphia 76ers — With the addition of All-Star F Paul George, the Sixers saw their odds go from +1400 in May to +800. “However, with an injury going into the season and George’s history of injury, the action has eased off for now,” Wattleworth said.

Oklahoma City Thunder — OKC opened at +900, and the line remains close to that mark as a new season begins. “OKC have been staking up picks via trades, and using them to draft well the last three or four years. They have one of the best players in the league in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.”

Dallas Mavericks — “Dallas made the trip to the Finals last year and were summarily dispatched by the Celts, but they showed they have the talent behind Luka to make a run. They need much better production behind him going forward.” Wattleworth likes the addition of Klay Thompson — if he can stay healthy.

Knicks-Timberwolves Trade — Wattleworth feels bettors favor New York’s move to land Karl Anthony-Town more, but the Timberwolves received quality in return. “The New York Knicks have been building a serious contender in the East. Without all the injuries they incurred last season, and in the playoffs, they may have likely had a deeper run. Minnesota has also been a team on the up, drafting and trading themselves into a contender, behind budding superstar Anthony Edwards.”

bet365 NBA MVP Watch List For 2024-25

Luka Doncic (+340) has topped the MVP market for a number of years at bet365. He’s getting about 28% of the betting action in the MVP market.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+500) was second in voting a season ago. “SGA has shown he is one of the elite players in the league, and many are (taking a chance on) him to take it to the next level and win the MVP,” Wattleworth said.

Anthony Edwards (+1200) “is another one of the rising talents in the league, which is helping assure (the NBA’s) quality going forward. He’s must-watch TV like SGA.”

Victor Wembanyama (+2000) is already one of the best defenders in the league, according to Waddlesworth. “As a player, his price seems too big. However, the tradition of the NBA MVP award doesn’t give as much credence to very good players on bad teams. His place on the San Antonio (Spurs) would be his biggest obstacle to winning the award.

Wattleworth also cites Nikola Jokic (+350), Joel Embiid (+600), Jalen Brunson (+1400), Ja Morant (+3300), and Tyrese Haliburton (+9000) as MVP candidates to watch.

The NBA regular season ends on Sunday, April 13. Golden State hosts the 74th NBA All-Star Game at Chase Center on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025.
