BetMGM Sportsbook App Migration Underway in US

A BetMGM Sportsbook app “migration” was underway in the United States on Wednesday, presumably an update of a one-wallet, one-account experience that doesn’t require adjustments by customers when they change legal sports betting jurisdictions.

BetMGM informed existing customers on Tuesday that the migration would begin today with assurances that any pending bets would be honored, although they may “disappear” from the app. BetMGM customers have had to manually change their state location in the app if attempting to place bets in one different from where they signed up and downloaded the platform.

A BetMGM spokesperson told Gaming Today that the company was unable to share details of the process yet.

How Will BetMGM App Migration Impact Users?

Migrations at other sportsbook apps have caused them to be unable to take bets for various lengths of time. This appeared on a New York user’s BetMGM app on Wednesday.

BetMGM app down for update

Said an email sent from BetMGM customer service to a bettor on Tuesday:

“As part of our upcoming multi-state account migration, which combines your accounts into one convenient wagering experience, we’ve identified you have at least one pending wager that will settle post-migration.  As of August 2nd, your current pending bet(s) may disappear, but you can rest assured that they will still be honored and settled appropriately.

If you have questions or need more help, please contact Customer Care.”

Caesars and Unibet relaunched their apps in June with WynnBet expected to follow suit at some point.

BetMGM currently operates mobile sportsbooks in Arizona, Colorado, Washington D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
