In a first-of-its-kind partnership with PGA Tour, DraftKings has announced the official launch date of its sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona. The highly anticipated grand opening is scheduled to be held on Thursday, October 19.

The official announcement from the sports betting giant stated that the sportsbook will be open to the public on Friday, October 20, pending regulatory approvals.

“The PGA TOUR and DraftKings are excited to announce the celebratory ribbon cutting of the DraftKings Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 19, with the book set to open to the public on Friday, Oct. 20, pending regulatory approvals,” the statement read.

The launch will feature the presence of executives such as Ron Price, COO of the PGA Tour, and Jennifer Aguiar, DraftKings Chief Compliance Officer. Former Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald will also be gracing the event. The 40-year-old former wide receiver, who now prides himself as an avid golfer, will be honored with placing the ceremonial first bet. Current sports radio analyst and ex-ESPN host Mike Golic will emcee the event.

“The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. with executives from the PGA TOUR and DraftKings, with the ceremonial first bet to be placed by Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald,” the statement continued.

The sportsbook spans 13,000 square feet, which includes 40 betting kiosks, seven ticket windows, and 3,400 square feet of video walls featuring non-stop sports coverage. It also includes a dining area and a central bar with a spacious patio furnished with cabanas and firepits.

Speaking on the one-of-a-kind sportsbook, Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer at DraftKings said:

“When you think about the experience of going in a venue and everybody’s cheering and watching on screens and you’re betting while watching, it’s an amazing experience. With a company like ours, you can choose to have an experience where you sit on your couch on your phone or you can come to a venue where there’s a lot more people and you can feed off the energy… That’s why we do these things.”

Partnership between DraftKings and PGA Tour continues to strive

DraftKings and PGA Tour first went into a multi-year partnership in July 2019. The partnership saw DraftKings become the first official daily fantasy game of the PGA Tour. An expansion of their relationship designated the sports betting giant as the first official betting operator of the tour.

The launch of the TPC Scottsdale sportsbook underscores the robust and successful partnership between DraftKings and the PGA Tour. The sportsbook has been in the works for some time, with the initial announcement made in April 2021. However, it wasn’t until nearly ten months ago that the groundbreaking ceremony for this innovative venue took place.

Since the partnership with DraftKings, the PGA Tour has added several other sports betting companies to its portfolio, including Bet365, BetMGM, BetPARX, PointsBet, and FanDuel, expanding its reach.
