The Magic of David Darkstone “Illusions & Beyond” is
now appearing at the New Frontier Hotel & Casino for an indefinite run. The
hotel presents two afternoon shows at noon and
2 p.m. in the New Frontier showroom. Tickets are $12.95 and include two drinks,
and may be purchased at the New Frontier Box Office. The show is dark Mondays
and a $3 discount off the $12.95 price is offered to all Nevadans with a valid
driver’s license.
“Illusions & Beyond” features illusionist David
Darkstone and variety entertainer Will Roya, billed as the Dynamic Duo because
these two men are the youngest headliner/producer team on the Las Vegas Strip
today. In fact, the show’s entire staff is all under 25 years old.
Choreography, costuming, sound and lights are accomplished by an energetic staff
of eight.
Technically, the show incorporates the use of video, an array
of fabulous music, and fog. Visually, headliner Darkstone performs illusions
used by many of the most well-known and respected magicians in the world with an
unbelievable sense of ease and confidence, while Roya’s zaniness shines in his
spy-themed juggling act as the featured performer.
“Siegfried and Roy once performed at the Frontier Hotel
& Casino and it’s great now to have magic back in the building and
hopefully at some point at some time David Darkstone will live up to the
expectations and the heights that Siegfried and Roy have reached,” said Peter Vent
of the New Frontier Hotel & Casino.
A native of Miami, Darkstone has numerous performance
credits. His first bread came when he appeared in a commercial for Pepsi Co. in
which he floated a can of Pepsi as it poured itself into a glass. Darkstone was
14 years old. By the time he was 16, Darkstone was filming a Brazillian variety
television show entitled “Opa Fredgie.” This success lead to a second
appearance and other Latin television appearances both nationally and
internationally over the next six years including “No Te A Que Atreves,” “Sevcec,”
“Contro,” “El Gordo y La Flaca” and “Despierta America.” In 1997,
Darkstone received the Latin “Ambience Entertainer of the Year” Award, an
award generally reserved for Latin singers and actors. Previous recipients
include such stars as Enrique Iglesias and Gloria Estefan.
