2024 North Carolina Tar Heels March Madness Schedule

And just like that, the madness is here! One of the best things about March Madness this year, though, is that bettors in North Carolina can legally wager on some of their home teams since online sports gambling has launched in the state.

Two squads bettors might want to keep their eyes on are the University of North Carolina men’s and women’s basketball teams. Let’s look at their schedules and March Madness odds.

North Carolina Men’s Basketball Schedule, Title Odds

UNC’s men’s hoops are exactly where they usually are when March rolls around, and that’s at (or near) the top. The No. 1-seed Tar Heels have a 27-7 overall record, were first in the ACC regular season, and are currently fourth on the board to cut down the nets in April.

This season marks the 53rd time North Carolina has earned its way into the NCAA tournament. And for the first time, fans can easily bet online with the North Carolina sports betting launch.

Helping the Heels to victory all season have been players like forward Armando Bacot, who leads the team in rebounds (10.2.) and blocks (1.5). Then there’s guard R.J. Davis, who leads the team in points per game with 21.4.

When it came to losses this season, a few of their most notable defeats were to Georgia Tech (74-73), UConn (87-76), and Kentucky (87-83).

While Carolina should get past its first opponent pretty quickly, what lies ahead after that will be interesting to watch. And that’s because UNC is in a competitive West Region bracket with Arizona, Baylor, Alabama, Saint Mary’s, and Michigan State.

The Tar Heels have the second-best odds of making it out of the West at +350. Will home-state luck be an X factor for UNC in the first few rounds as it plays for its seventh NCAA title?

North Carolina Women’s Basketball Team Schedule, Title Odds

UNC women’s hoops take the court this Friday. And based on their gigantic odds to win it all, the Tar Heels lady hoopers have their work cut out for them.

With a 19-12 overall record, they’re seventh in the ACC and a No. 8 seed in the tournament. This season makes the fourth year in a row that UNC’s women have made it to the dance.

One player who has made it possible for Carolina to have a chance at a run in 2024 is Alyssa Ustby. The 6-foot-1 guard is averaging 9.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game — all team bests. However, guard Deja Kelly’s 16.7 points per contest has kept the squad competitive throughout their challenging schedule.

Bettors who like UNC against the Spartans or Tar Heels’ title futures might want to note this: When they dropped games this season, those losses usually came in skids of two, three, or four games. Only twice did UNC’s women have a single loss sandwiched between wins. With that in mind, in the Tar Heels’ most recent matchup, they fell 60-59 to Miami.
