BetMGM has scored a key partnership as it recently announced it has become the official sports betting and online casino partner of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.

The move will bolster the operator’s presence in the lucrative Pennsylvania market and, in particular, strengthen its brand recognition in Pittsburgh.

“Pittsburgh is home to some of the most iconic sports franchises,” BetMGM CMO Casey Hurbis said in a statement.

“This latest collaboration with the Penguins builds on our deep ties across the city and opens new opportunities to engage fans through unforgettable experiences at PPG Paints Arena, and beyond.”

Partnership will boost brand visibility for BetMGM

The deal between the Penguins and BetMGM includes several marketing-focused moves:

  • BetMGM signage and branding at the Penguins’ PPG Paints Arena
  • Co-branded social media content
  • Exclusive promotions and “premium hospitality assets” for VIP fan experiences.
  • Penguins-themed online casino games

Steve Kelly, the Penguins’ senior vice president of partnerships, said the franchise is “proud” to partner with BetMGM.

“BetMGM is an established leader, and this partnership furthers our organizational commitment to enhancing the gameday experience for the most passionate fanbase in the National Hockey League,” Kelly said.

The Penguins deal not only increases BetMGM’s brand in Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania but also adds to its growing list of partnerships in a wide range of professional sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NASCAR.

This past month, the operator extended its contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers through 2029, too. Reinforcing the opportunities as a top NFL betting app. Overall, the company has partnerships with 11 professional football teams.

BetMGM year in review

The New Jersey-based sports betting, iGaming, and casino operator has had a busy 2025.

In January, the company expanded its popular second-chance bets to the NBA and NHL. This spring, BetMGM sportsbook became the entitlement sponsor of the NASCAR Xfinity’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In May, it inked a deal to be the official sports betting and iGaming operator for the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. And, in July, BetMGM announced that New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter joined the company’s Team of Legendary Ambassadors.

The operator currently offers some form of sports betting in nearly 30 states and Washington D.C. Additionally, it operates online casino platforms in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
