FanDuel Predicts is seeing significant action on its Academy Awards contracts, with Best Picture leading the way. One Battle After Another, a dystopian film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is the clear favorite with a predicted 75% chance of winning. The Michael B. Jordan-led Sinners sits at a distant second with 27%, while Hamnet remains a long shot at 4%.
Academy Awards: Best Actor
The race for Best Actor is much tighter. Michael B. Jordan currently leads at 52% for his dual-role performance in Sinners. Timothée Chalamet, who earned rave reviews for Marty Supreme, follows closely at 46%. Despite the popularity of his film, DiCaprio lags at 7% for his work in One Battle After Another.
Tracking the surge in oil toward $150 crude
Rising tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel have caused oil prices to skyrocket. Threats to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz—a corridor for roughly 20% of the world’s annual oil supply—have triggered market volatility.
Kalshi traders are driving a trending market for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil. Since the U.S. launched strikes in the region on Feb. 28, the price of WTI has jumped more than $30 per barrel.
According to AAA, gas prices rose approximately 27 cents per gallon last Wednesday and are now nearly 50 cents higher than they were a week ago. Prediction markets show 48% confidence that prices will surge past $140 per barrel, while 43% of the market believes prices will surpass $150.
Forecasting the next Trump administration exit
President Donald J. Trump’s administration began March in flux. Following the announcement of military action against Iran, the president moved Kristi Noem from her post as head of the Department of Homeland Security to his “Shield of the Americas” global security body.
Predictors anticipate further turnover in 2026. Amy Gleason, interim director of the Department of Government Efficiency, is the favorite to depart next at 60%. Other high-profile figures are also in the spotlight: the market places a 48% probability on the departure of Attorney General Pam Bondi, followed by FBI Director Kash Patel at 41%.
