The world-famous SuperBook brand has found a location to be its first offshoot in this wild west era of sports betting in the USA, and it surely won’t be the last.
The Lodge Casino located in Black Hawk, Colorado, 37 miles west of Denver, will have a smaller SuperBook on-site while also offering mobile gaming throughout the state with all the bookmaking done from the Westgate Las Vegas location.
“We believe The Lodge is a perfect fit for our initial expansion opportunities outside Las Vegas,” said Jay Kornegay, the SuperBook’s Executive Vice President of Race & Sports Book Operations. “We have maintained the highest levels of technology and service in a highly-regulated industry. We have written the playbook on sports betting in the United States, and now we will put it into action in Colorado.”
Jumping into Colorado was a natural fit for the SuperBook, considering Kornegay is from Colorado and went to Colorado State, located in Fort Collins, and he’s been canvassing the states for some time looking new locations.
“We’ve been working on this for months,” he said.
Many of the big players in the sports betting industry figure to be competing for their share of the Colorado market with Circa Sports, William Hill, Penn National, and GVC’s MGM Resorts brand, all who have already been approved with sportsbook licenses. The SuperBook is still awaiting approval, but the scheduled May 1 opening day for the state figures to be delayed due to the coronavirus.
What separates the SuperBook brand from most of the others is offering low theoretic hold on futures (26 percent hold on the 30-way index), never over-juicing games (20 cents split on spreads and 10 cents on MLB money-lines) while offering some of the most creative props on the planet in all sports.
Between the well-known brand name of the SuperBook, and intentions of offering the world’s most popular football contest with the SuperContest, a season-long pro football contest that turns the winner into an immediate millionaire, they’re going to be a tough choice to pass on when matching up everything against what some of the European book models will be offering.
“We’ll have remote signups (unlike Nevada) where the bettor doesn’t even have to make a visit or get off the couch to deposit or withdraw funds from their account,” Kornegay said. “Of course, we hope to see plenty of visitors at the Black Hawk site where our SuperBook won’t be as large as at the Westgate. But it will be clean, and offer a great experience that I think Colorado will love.”
Kornegay said the entire casino is non-smoking which falls in line with what he offers for most of the Westgate SuperBook.
The move to Colorado may only be the beginning as the SuperBook brand is actively looking for more states to jump into.
