Barstool Sportsbook Inks Deal With NASCAR For Arizona Sports Betting Access

Penn Interactive has agreed to an exclusive partnership with NASCAR that will make their Penn National Barstool Sportsbook the exclusive Sportsbook of Phoenix Raceway according to ArizonaCasinos.com. This deal gives Penn National Gaming, which owns Penn Interactive, a foothold in the Arizona sports betting market.

Specific details of the arrangement are unclear, but it’s believed to be a multiyear partnership that enables Penn Interactive to provide odds and other betting content to NASCAR fans at Phoenix Raceway, which hosts two NASCAR races each year, and will serve as the host track for the the championship of the 2021 NASCAR Cup season.

Through their popular Barstool Sportsbook, which is grabbing market share in other burgeoning areas, Penn can enhance coverage in-state of NASCAR events and offer promotions and bonuses to race fans who enjoy gambling on the sport. Barstool Sportsbook will also have the option for signage at Phoenix Raceway, as well as on the social media and digital networks of NASCAR. In 2019, the last year that full events were hosted, more than 80,000 fans attended NASCAR events at the track in Phoenix.

Penn National Gaming was the first authorized gaming operator to enter into an agreement with NASCAR, back in 2020. They have operator licenses or partnerships with gaming operators or professional leagues in 20 states. Penn Interactive has online gaming through the Barstool Sportsbook in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Penn National has race sponsorship rights for the Kansas Speedway.

About Barstool Sports And Penn National Gaming

For many people, Barstool Sports came to their attention during Super Bowl LI in 2017, when a tongue-in-cheek commercial featuring Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee was named one of the more entertaining of that media event. At that time, Barstool Sports was little more than a website, a podcast, and a segment on Comedy Central that poked fun at sports personalities. But within a few years, the popularity of the brand led Penn National Gaming to buy a controlling interest in Barstool. In 2020, Penn launched the first Barstool Sportsbook, in Pennsylvania, expanding to three more states in 2021.

Barstool Sportsbook maintains an entertainment value that characterized the brand when it was a media channel. With that content and the odds and sports betting content, the mobile apps are popular with a segment of bettors.
