Bragg Gaming Group has announced that Matevž Mazij is stepping down as CEO with immediate effect, according to NEXT.io. Chief Operating Officer Morten Tonnesen will take over as interim CEO.

Mazij, who became CEO in August 2023, will remain a strategic advisor without day-to-day management responsibilities.

Tonnesen Takes Charge of Bragg’s Operations

Tonnesen joined Bragg in March 2026 after a spell at Xtremepush. His experience includes around three years as chief commercial officer at Shape Games and six years at PokerStars. He also co-founded BetWarrior and served as its CEO.

Bragg Chairman Matt Davey thanked Mazij for founding Oryx and merging it into Bragg. He said the board’s priorities include disciplined execution, balance sheet strength, operating cash flow, and technology, content and services.

“Morten has the operational experience to deliver against those tests, and the Board has full confidence in him,” Davey said.

Tonnesen pointed to Bragg’s technology, growing proprietary content and licensed footprint across more than 30 regulated markets.

“My focus is execution, delivering for our operator partners and running a simpler and more focused business,” Tonnesen said.

Leadership Change Follows Shareholder Dissent and Restructuring

The transition follows shareholder opposition to Mazij’s board membership earlier this year. In June, shareholders voted 55.67% to 44.33% against re-electing him at Bragg’s annual general meeting. Mazij subsequently resigned from the board.

Bragg reported a 12% year-over-year revenue decline in its second-quarter results. It also withdrew full-year financial guidance after completing its $9 million acquisition of Drayton International in July.

The company cut its global workforce by about 12% in January and made another round of cuts in July. Combined annualized savings are expected to reach around €10.5 million.

Bragg is due to publish its third-quarter results on November 13.
