Caesars Sportsbook self-service kiosks will replace GambetDC machines in 53 small businesses in Washington, D.C., the company announced on Tuesday.

GambetDC, the original single-source sports betting provider sanctioned by the DC Office of Lottery and Gaming, was replaced online by FanDuel and is set to phase out in mid-October.

The Caesars kiosks can also be used to fund Caesars Sportsbook online accounts.

“Our self-service betting kiosks are an excellent addition to our sports wagering options in D.C. Whether sports fans prefer a traditional ticket-in-hand wagering experience or want to simply deposit cash for their mobile app account, our kiosks enhance the premier sports betting experience we offer through the combination of options and convenience that supports dozens of small businesses locally,” Caesars Digital President Eric Hession said in a release.

DC Sports Betting Evolves Yet Again

Sports betting in the District began with GambetDC controlling the entirety of the city, except small digital fiefdoms around sports arenas that were exclusive to other national brands.

DC officials replaced the problematic, Intralot-driven GambetDC platform with FanDuel earlier this year, and after smashing immediate results voted in June to open the market to more national operators.

Caesars launched mobile sports betting in DC in July. BetMGM is also available online throughout the District.

Caesars in the Cradle of Democracy

Caesars was already a formidable presence in Washington, D.C., before Tuesday. It already controlled the digital real estate around Capital One Arena through a partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the resident Capitals (NHL) and Wizards (NBA).

In 2021, Caesars opened the first in-arena sportsbook in North America in Capital One and became the NHL’s first jersey-patch sponsor for Caps home games.

“D.C. residents and visitors will soon have access to best-in-class sports wagering kiosks at retail locations across the city,” OLG Interim Executive Director Eugene Vlasenko said in a release. “We are pleased to partner with Caesars, a key industry player and the leader in retail sport betting operations, which is demonstrating its commitment to the D.C. community.”
