Colorado, Nevada Casino Sports Betting Brands Get IGT Makeover

Photo by Shutterstock — Casinos in Black Hawk, CO, and Reno, NV, have a new partner for sports betting technology.

Customers who use BetMonarch Colorado or Atlantis Sports NV sports betting apps might have noticed a different look and different betting lines at the beginning of August 2024.

International Game Technology — IGT — is the company behind the changes. Both casino-branded apps have histories in their respective states.

  • Miomni Gaming software powered the original “Atlantis Race & Sports” app when the Reno, Nevada sportsbook went live in 2015.
  • The original version of BetMonarch Sportsbook joined the Colorado sports betting market with a May 2020 launch from Black Hawk, CO.

Both sportsbook websites or apps can guide customers through the IGT switch-over and registration process. IGT and the casinos announced the Colorado and Nevada refreshes on Monday, Aug. 5.

IGT Works Behind the Scenes

IGT provides tech for the sports betting apps in Colorado and Nevada, but it’s also known for digital:

  • slots
  • roulette
  • blackjack
  • baccarat and
  • lottery games.

Casino visitors might see IGT’s work in Wheel of Fortune slot machine designs — or Whitney Houston spins on machines that play her greatest hits as gamblers align platinum records for a big payout.

Through IGT PlaySports, the company can handle app updates, set sports betting markets, and meet equipment needs for its new casino partners. Gamblers might see new betting kiosk cabinets or touch-screen betting pads for in-person wagers.

Steve Mikkelson, Corporate Director of Race and Sports for Monarch Casino & Resort, Inc., liked IGT’s betting technology stacks and versatility.

“We’re excited to introduce Atlantis and Monarch Black Hawk patrons to elevated sports betting entertainment via our new IGT PlaySports-powered retail and mobile sportsbooks,” he said.

IGT Colorado, Nevada Apps Face Stiff Competition

Nevada and Colorado are among the most competitive states for online sports betting.

The BetMonarch app hopes to stand out in a Colorado market featuring 17 sportsbooks. Three sportsbooks — Betway, SuperBook Sports, and Tipico — have left the Centennial State so far in 2024.

Colorado accepted $350.4 million in June bets, according to the latest Colorado Department of Revenue report.

The Silver State has about a dozen online sportsbooks. Nevada operators collected about $515.3 million in sports betting transactions in May 2024.

Options in both states include major players like DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, BetMGM, Fanatics Sportsbook, and Caesars.

Joe Bertolone, IGT’s SVP of Sports Betting, hopes its “world-class retail and mobile sports betting” will help BetMonarch and Atlantis Sports NV find a niché in the western states.

“IGT PlaySports is delighted to partner with Monarch in the modernization of their sports betting offerings in Nevada and Colorado,” he said.
