DraftKings Will Partner To Open Sports Betting Bars in Detroit, Nashville

Online betting and mobile sports betting apps are convenient, but nothing can replace the excitement and experience of being around the action at a retail betting site that offers entertainment and food. DraftKings and The Cordish Companies Live! have announced a partnership that will bring the Sports & Social concept to Detroit and Nashville.

Live! and the Sports & Social concept will combine with DraftKings‘ sportsbooks to bring a sort of “Disney World for Sports Betting” experience to revitalized entertainment districts in those two cities, according to a release on Thursday.

Sports & Social is a unique luxurious gaming establishment and “social lounge” that pairs state-of-the-art sports viewing with a premier dining experience from top chefs and a popular cocktail menu. Visitors can dine, watch practically any live sporting event from around the globe, and enjoy their favorite spirits, all while placing bets with an adjacent retail or online sportsbook. The concept for Sports & Social is a brand of Live! Dining & Entertainment, a division of The Cordish Companies, which attracts more than 55 million visitors to their dining and entertainment venues in the U.S. annually.

Where Will the DraftKings Sports & Social Locations Be?

No details have been released on where the new Sports & Social location will be placed in Nashville, but the Detroit location already exists, though without a retail sportsbook. The partnership with DraftKings will remedy that. Sports & Social Detroit is located at Woodward Square neighborhood in the District Detroit, a bustling center of sports in downtown Detroit. Within less than a quarter of a mile area, Woodward Square hosts Little Caesars Arena, home to the NHL‘s Red Wings, the NBA‘s Pistons, and also has Ford Field and Comerica Park, which host the Lions and Tigers respectively. Olympia Entertainment, a company operated by the Ilitch family, which owns both the Red Wings and Tigers, as well as the famous Fox Theatre in the same neighborhood, has plans to add space for retail, dining, and entertainment in the Woodward Square and downtown Detroit.

It’s possible that the new venture may target Nashville’s Music Row district, which is adjacent to Bridgestone Arena, hosts the NHL’s Predators, and is only a few blocks from the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. That area of downtown Nashville could serve as an attractive location for a new DraftKings/Sports & Social gaming and social lounge.

Notable Sports & Social locations include The Battery adjacent to Truist Park in Atlanta, home of the Braves of Major League Baseball; at Ballpark Village as part of the Busch Stadium complex in St. Louis, home to the St. Louis Cardinals; Texas Live! in the Arlington Entertainment District near the Rangers ballpark; inside the Live! Casino Pittsburgh; inside Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia in Philadelphia’s Stadium District; and at the Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland in the Baltimore/Washington Corridor.
