Fanatics Casino is putting a new spin on its marketing strategy. Literally. Actor Patrick Schwarzenegger has been tapped as the face of the brand’s latest campaign, starring in the “Explained by Patrick Schwarzenegger” ad series.

The spot highlights FanCash Spins, a free-to-play daily game on the Fanatics Casino app where players can chase six-figure rewards.

The campaign is lighthearted, with Schwarzenegger performing actual spins while explaining the game, a follow-up to Fanatics’ earlier “Explained By” ads that featured LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne promoting the sportsbook. The idea is simple: use pop culture figures to break down how the products work in a fun, approachable way.

It comes at a time when Fanatics Casino is eager to grow its footprint. The operator, which launched earlier this year in Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and West Virginia, says it already has one of the top-rated iOS casino apps.

Starting October 1, FanCash Spins will include a rolling $25,000 FanCash Jackpot, upping the ante for daily players.

A Celebrity Spin on Casino Growth

Celebrity marketing to promote US online casinos isn’t new—just look at the countless sportsbook ads featuring athletes and entertainers—but Fanatics is leaning into it with its casino push. By pairing Schwarzenegger’s humor with a game that doesn’t require spending money to play, the company is casting a wide net.

The promotion isn’t just about brand awareness, though. It ties directly into Fanatics’ broader loyalty ecosystem. FanCash earned through spins or casino play can be used across Fanatics Sportsbook, casino, and even its merchandise store. Whether it’s a free bet, a slot credit, or a new jersey, the rewards cycle keeps users connected to the brand.

This approach reflects Fanatics’ biggest bet: that it can merge entertainment, wagering, and shopping into one experience that competitors can’t easily match.

Expansion Through Sports Betting

While the casino side grabs attention with flashy campaigns, Fanatics is still doubling down on its sportsbook expansion. Fanatics announced a multi-year deal with Boyd Gaming to enter Missouri’s sports betting market.

Through Boyd’s Ameristar Casino properties, Fanatics will operate mobile betting and retail sportsbooks when the state’s regulated market launches on December 1.

That move strengthens Fanatics’ nationwide reach, which now includes more than 20 retail locations and the only NFL stadium sportsbook at the Washington Commanders’ Northwest Stadium. Missouri’s regulations require operators to partner with either a casino or a professional sports team. With heavyweights like DraftKings and Circa already licensed, the competition is expected to be fierce.

For Fanatics, though, every sportsbook launch is another chance to cross-sell its casino product where legal. Sports bettors are often the easiest bridge into iGaming, and the Missouri expansion lays more groundwork for Fanatics to keep building its customer base.

Can Fanatics Compete With DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM?

The US online casino market is dominated by three names: DraftKings Casino, FanDuel, and BetMGM Casino. They’ve spent years fine-tuning their platforms and building trust with players. Fanatics is still the newcomer, which means it faces the classic uphill climb of convincing customers to switch—or at least split their play.

Where Fanatics hopes to separate itself is through its rewards program. FanCash isn’t just another set of points that sit inside a casino wallet. It has real-world value, from tickets to collectibles to sports gear.

That tangible connection could be enough to sway sports fans who like the idea of earning rewards they can actually use outside the casino.

Still, going head-to-head with the big three won’t be easy. DraftKings has its fantasy player base, FanDuel leans on its sports dominance, and BetMGM benefits from MGM Resorts’ established casino presence. Fanatics will need to prove it can not only keep pace but also offer something unique that makes players stay.

Building a Casino Experience Worth Playing

Fanatics Casino isn’t lacking in content. It offers a wide mix of slots, blackjack, roulette, and live dealer games thanks to partnerships with major developers like Evolution, IGT, and Light & Wonder, plus in-house titles from Fanatics Game Studios. That variety ensures it can meet expectations from the outset.

The FanCash Spins feature adds an extra layer of excitement. By making daily free play part of the routine, Fanatics is betting on engagement that doesn’t always rely on deposits. If players enjoy that interaction, they’re more likely to stick around for real-money games.

The company expects FanCash Spins to reach 25 million lifetime spins by October, which would be a strong indication that the concept is gaining traction.

A Loyalty System With Real Reach

The Fanatics ONE loyalty program, launched in August, ties everything together. Players can earn FanCash across the sportsbook and casino, then redeem it for jerseys, collectibles, tickets, or bonus bets. No other operator can offer that kind of real-world integration.

For example, a Michigan slot player could turn winnings into merchandise for their favorite team, while a Pennsylvania sports bettor could parlay FanCash into Eagles tickets. That connection between gaming and fandom is where Fanatics might find its sweet spot.

Looking Ahead for Fanatics

The coming year will be a big test for Fanatics. The company must keep its casino app at the forefront while also expanding its sportsbook into additional states.

A fun ad campaign with Patrick Schwarzenegger gets people talking, but the real challenge is keeping players around long-term. That means making sure the app feels easy to use, enjoyable, and worth coming back to every day.

If Fanatics succeeds in blending online sports betting, online casino play, and merchandise under one roof, it could carve out a unique spot in the industry that even the heavy hitters will notice. If not, there’s a risk it ends up just another name fighting for attention in a crowded field.

A Newcomer Willing to Take Risks

Fanatics has already shown it isn’t afraid to make bold moves. Launching in four casino states immediately and relying on celebrity-led marketing makes it clear the company wants to stand out. It’s already proven it can shake up the sports betting space, and now it’s aiming to do the same with online casinos.

The big question is whether it can truly compete with DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM. Those operators have years of experience and loyal customer bases. Fanatics, however, has some tools the others don’t: a one-of-a-kind loyalty program, pop culture-driven campaigns, and a growing presence in both sportsbook and casino.

If the brand can keep its momentum, Fanatics Casino has a chance to grow into much more than just a side project. It could become a serious player in its own right.
