Building on models introduced by PrizePicks and Underdog, FanDuel has launched its own peer-to-peer fantasy sports contest. Branded as FanDuel Picks, the product is now available in 17 U.S. states.

According to the product’s general manager, Rob Cullen, the peer-based format arrives just in time for the start of the new NFL season. FanDuel Picks will give fans a more interactive way to connect with the sports and players they follow closely. As the market grows, an NFL DFS guide will likely be a useful resource for those exploring what it offers.

FanDuel Picks: a peer-to-peer twist to online DFS

FanDuel Picks is a peer-to-peer fantasy sports contest where users select between three and six athletes. After finalizing their choices, players decide whether each athlete will achieve “more” or “less” than their projected statistical performance. Correct predictions earn points, and participants with the highest totals share in the prize pool.

According to FanDuel’s press release, payouts can reach up to 1,000 times a player’s entry fee. To attract new users, FanDuel Picks is offering a $60 bonus when players wager at least $5.

Commenting on the “more or less” model, Cullen said it provides a simplified fantasy sports experience. He added that the format gives FanDuel customers an additional way to engage with games throughout the season.

The 17 states offering FanDuel Picks

FanDuel officially launched the peer-to-peer fantasy sports contest in 17 states on Aug. 27, 2025. Interestingly, the sportsbook does not currently offer sports betting in any of these jurisdictions.

Eligible states include:

  • Oregon, Georgia, Alaska, Arkansas, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and North Dakota. The contest is also available in Alabama, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, and Wisconsin.

Notably, FanDuel Picks is not available in California. FanDuel has not explained the exclusion, but a recent opinion from California’s attorney general on the legality of fantasy sports platforms may be the reason. The attorney general said daily fantasy sports contests are illegal and signaled an intent to pursue enforcement actions against operators still active in the state.

FanDuel Sports Network grows with VSiN

In addition to the new product launch, FanDuel has formed a partnership with VSiN sports betting network, announced Aug. 28, 2025. The move is notable because FanDuel is now working with the same channel DraftKings sold last summer.

Under the deal, VSiN’s new morning show, By the Books, will air Monday through Friday on the FanDuel Sports Network app and across nine of FanDuel’s regional affiliates. Former MLB pitcher Jensen Lewis and veteran broadcaster Dave Ross will host. The program will not appear on FanDuel TV.

Currently, VSiN broadcasts more than 18 hours of live betting programming daily. As the NFL season begins, FanDuel will distribute a steady stream of VSiN betting content across its regional channels.

Commenting on the partnership, Steve Cohen, VSiN’s executive vice president of talent and programming, said the network is excited to deliver distinctive sports betting coverage to dedicated fans. The deal allows sports fans to follow coverage of their favorite local teams through the FanDuel Sports Network.

Inside FanDuel: From online sportsbook to DFS and media

The new contest adds to FanDuel Group’s extensive lineup, which includes the FanDuel Sportsbook and online casino. The company is also a leading operator in horse racing and advance-deposit wagering in the United States.

In addition, FanDuel operates FanDuel TV, a widely distributed cable network, and FanDuel TV+, a direct-to-consumer streaming platform. The company currently serves about 17 million customers nationwide.

FanDuel also operates 25 retail locations. Headquartered in New York, the company has offices in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Jersey City, as well as international offices in Canada, Ireland, Portugal, Scotland, Romania, and Australia.

FanDuel Picks positions company for DFS growth

FanDuel’s peer-to-peer fantasy contest strengthens the company’s profile in states where it does not yet operate as a sportsbook. Some of these states restrict sports betting, while others have not issued licenses to FanDuel. Regardless of regulatory outcomes, the company will broaden its presence in these markets over time.

The launch ahead of the NFL season on Sept. 4 reflects a well-timed strategy. The “more or less” format keeps the experience simple, while the potential to win up to 1,000 times the entry fee—plus a generous welcome bonus—adds appeal. FanDuel appears poised for continued growth across the United States.
