
Massachusetts’ sports betting economy generated $118.5 million in total tax revenue through its first year of operation, according to a report issued by the state gaming commission.
Mobile sports betting launched there on Jan. 31, 2023. Retail sports betting debuted on March 10.
Retail sports betting is available at the Encore Boston Harbor, Plainridge Park Casino and MGM Springfield (Category 1 licensees) and through eight mobile Category 3 vendors, including Boston-bred DraftKings.
Betr and WynnBET are the only sportsbooks to cease operations in Massachusetts after launching. None of the Category 2 licenses available to pari-mutuel facilities has been claimed.
Massachusetts ranks ninth in handle among the 33 reporting US jurisdictions since it launched sports betting, according the Gaming Today sports betting revenue tracker.
Through June, that figure is $8.5 billion. New York leads with $30.2 billion in that time period.
