YouTube megastar Jimmy Donaldson—better known as MrBeast—has partnered with fintech platform MoneyLion to launch a $4.2 million sweepstakes. The promotion is tied to MrBeast’s new Prime Video competition series, Beast Games.

The MoneyLion Beast Games Giveaway will consist of eight drawings, running through most of the year, and awarding prizes to 1,000 winners. The first draw took place in December and the final draw will be on Nov. 27, 2025.

To participate, viewers can scan a QR code during the show, visit MoneyLion’s website or app, and create an account. Participants can earn additional entries by claiming their Beast Bonus daily on the app.

MrBeast expands reach into gambling-adjacent promotions

MrBeast’s involvement with sweepstakes is not surprising. He rose to fame due to various giveaways, which some observers estimate to be worth tens of millions. Examples include houses, a private island, Teslas, and a thousand iPhones.

While sweepstakes are legally distinct from gambling, requiring no purchase for entry, MrBeast’s latest ventures suggest a shift toward the sector. Last week, Resorts World Las Vegas announced the “MrBeast Experience at Resorts World” hotel package. The special offer includes a three-night stay at the resort from April 13-15 and a limited-edition MrBeast mystery bag filled with branded merchandise. One lucky guest will receive a $10,000 gift voucher, redeemable for cash at the resort. The property will also feature on-site activations throughout the week.

Resorts World Las Vegas is not the first Vegas resort to leverage MrBeast’s brand for promotional purposes. In 2022, he featured a $150,000 luxury stay at Palms Casino Resort in a video comparing hotel rooms priced between $1 and $1 million. While not an official partnership, the resort capitalized on the exposure by creating the Epic Experience Suite Package, replicating what MrBreast showed in the video.

Scammers target MrBeast’s giveaways

Scammers have also targeted YouTube stars’ famous giveaways. Last year, deepfake videos appeared on Facebook and Instagram promoting The Beast Plinko, allegedly created by Beast Games. The videos claimed that every player wins, and the game allows MrBeast to easily give out money.

The videos showed Fox News and CNN anchors promoting the game using AI-generated footage. Also, celebrities such as Andrew Tate, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and “Dude Perfect” podcast host Tyler Toney talked about how it’s so easy to make money that it doesn’t make sense. In one video, MrBeast compared the game to previous giveaways where people didn’t believe him when he handed them bags with money.

It quickly became evident that The Beast Plinko was a scam. It did not exist in the App Store or Google Play, nor was it affiliated with MrBeast. Observers also pointed out grammatical errors and unofficial social media accounts.

MoneyLion leverages MrBeast’s influence

Collaborating with MrBeast makes sense for MoneyLion. The fintech company actively promotes itself on various social media platforms and heavily promotes its financial services to younger consumers, who also make up a large portion of MrBeast’s followers. It has close to four million followers on TikTok, and some videos receive tens of millions of likes.

MoneyLion promotes itself as a platform offering financial tools and services, such as instant loans, cash advance offerings, financial tracking, and credit builder loans. In addition to social media, MoneyLion aims to attract younger audiences looking to manage their finances with innovative incentives like daily rewards. These include cashback deals from various retailers, cash-earning games, and friend referral bonuses.

However, the company has faced criticism from consumer advocates. They say its services are unsuitable for younger audiences and could harm financially vulnerable users. MoneyLion loan interest rates could be as high as 29.99%, and when the monthly subscription fee is added, that number could reach over 50%.

Social media celebrities and gambling promotions

MrBeast, teaming up with Resorts World Las Vegas and MoneyLion, showcases a trend of social media celebrities entering gambling-related promotions. For example, influencer and rapper Rubi Rose and Janelle Smith, sports betting Discord channel owner, won $100,000 in the PrizePicks World Championship in November. The event, which also featured ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith, has increased awareness and attention to PrizePicks, a props-style Daily Fantasy Sports operator.

Gambling-related promotions have proliferated across streaming platforms, with Kick, Twitch, and YouTube influencers partnering with gaming operators. While Twitch imposed restrictions on unregulated gambling streams in 2022, Kick continues to host such content. However, the latter recently announced new rules against streams from casinos without age verification.

Aside from social media influencers, many celebrities partner with online casinos and sportsbooks. For example, NFL greats the Manning brothers (Eli and Peyton) and Rob Gronkowski have been involved with FanDuel. Kevin Hart is the ambassador for DraftKings, while Jamie Foxx has partnered with BetMGM. Of course, some are on the opposite end. Streamer and influencer Pokimane recently criticized rapper Drake for promoting offshore crypto casino Stake.com, which is illegal in the US.
