Let’s take a look at the odds to win the division and make the playoffs, plus season win totals and plenty of other markets.

Odds to Win NFC West

The NFC West was the best division in the NFL last season. Three teams made the playoffs (Rams, Cardinals, and 49ers), the Rams won the Super Bowl, and the Cardinals were the last undefeated team during the regular season. With LA is the clear favorite, all three teams are expected to be competitive again this year.

Seattle is only two years removed from its last division title (2020). However, after trading Russell Wilson to Denver, the outlook is bleak for the Seahawks.

Here are odds to win the NFC West from four sportsbooks around the betting marketplace, current as of July 19:

NFC West Odds-- 2022/23DraftKingsCaesars (Code TODAY15)BetMGM (Promo Code) TODAYFanDuel
Los Angeles Rams+125+135+120+125
San Francisco 49ers+150+180+200+200
Arizona Cardinals+400+300+300+300
Seattle Seahawks+1800+1600+1600+1500

Los Angeles Rams

As defending champs, it only makes sense that the Rams start the season favored to win the division again. But the Rams have lost a few key players from last season’s Super Bowl-winning team, i.e., Robert Woods, Odell Beckham Jr., and Von Miller.

Signing Allen Robinson gives the wide receiver room a solid veteran alongside Cooper Kupp. Getting a healthy Cam Akers back should give the run game a boost. Bobby Wagner is a great addition to the defense, but the former Seattle great does not make up for the loss of Miller.

San Francisco 49ers

The story of the 49ers season revolves around the expected starting quarterback, Trey Lance. Jimmy Garoppolo is still on the roster, but if San Francisco fails to move him they will probably cut him. If Lance lives up to his draft position (No. 3 overall in 2021), the 49ers will look like geniuses.

But even if he doesn’t … the defense will help keep them in some games while Lance gets adjusted to the speed of the NFL game. But in a division as tight and competitive as the NFC West, there is not much room for error.

Arizona Cardinals

For the first half of the season last year, it looked like the Kliff Kingsbury/Kyler Murray gamble was finally going to pay off for the Cardinals. But injuries slowed the team down in the second half of the season once again. While they still made the playoffs, they struggled down the stretch and lost to the Rams in the Wild Card Round.

Keeping guys relatively healthy will be crucial to the success of the season. But rather than slow down towards the end of the season, the Cards could struggle to start the season this year. Why? Because DeAndre Hopkins is suspended for the first six.

Seattle Seahawks

Last season’s 7-10 finish was the first below .500 for Seattle since 2011. With Wilson now playing for the Broncos, the Seahawks are going to have a hard time competing in the division. This is especially true if they end up sticking with Geno Smith and Drew Lock at quarterback.

Neither has had a track record of success in the NFL. There is no reason to think that will change in 2022.

Trading for/acquiring Garoppolo could help since Seattle does have some great weapons on the offensive side of the ball. However, the organization may be more interested in making sure it has a top-five draft pick next year. But even if they do land Jimmy G, the defense needs a ton of work and will be learning a new system under first-year defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt.

Three-Team Fight For NFC West Title

The NFC West has seen a different team win the division the last three seasons. With the roster the Rams have coming back, they are the rightful favorites to win it again this year. How well their offense plays could depend on how quickly Robinson can get up to speed and the development of Akers.

Losing Miller hurts the defense, but acquiring Wagner takes away some of the sting. With a healthy Aaron Donald on the field, the Rams D will always be tough to score on.

Arizona looked like the team to beat for the first half of 2021, but injuries took a toll. Losing Hopkins for the first six games of the season will not help, but if Murray can continue to improve and stay relatively healthy, the Cardinals could explode down the stretch.

A bet on the 49ers makes sense only if you assume Lance will have no learning curve. He has only two starts under his belt, one against the Cardinals (a loss) and the other against Houston (a win).

The Seahawks are probably already looking to 2023 and their first-round rookie quarterback.

Our Picks to Win NFC West

Our Pick: For now, go with the Rams. With an opening three-game stretch of vs. Chiefs, at Raiders, vs. Rams — and missing Hopkins for three more games after that — Arizona’s odds are bound to lengthen, so you may want to wait before rolling the dice on them. As for San Francisco, too much hinges on Trey Lance. It’s better to wait and see how he does before betting on the 49ers.

Sleeper Pick: Cardinals. The talent is there, but they have to stay healthy, and Kingsbury needs to figure out how to win games in December.

How Many NFC West Teams Make The Playoffs?

With the NFL adding an additional wild card team for the playoffs in 2020, it is a little easier for teams to make the postseason. Teams typically need to win at least 10 games to have a shot, but from time to time, a team with nine or fewer wins makes it. The No. 7 seed in both conferences in 2021 had nine wins.

Three NFC West teams made the playoffs last year (Rams, 49ers, and Cardinals). All three had 10+ wins. Playoff odds for each team are current as of July 19:

To Make Playoffs (Yes/No)DraftKingsCaesars (Code: Today15)BetMGM (Code TODAY)FanDuel
Los Angeles Rams-250/+200-280/+230-250/+200-270/+210
San Francisco 49ers-225/+175-220/+185-225/+180-225/+174
Arizona Cardinals+125/-150+105/-125-105/-115+106/-128
Seattle Seahawks+500/-650+375/-500+450/-650+540/-800

According to the odds, the Rams have a 71.43-73.68% chance of making it back to the postseason, while the 49ers’ chances are a shade below 70%. Arizona’s odds give the Cardinals a 44.44-51.22% chance. The outlook is not nearly as promising for the Seahawks; they have a 15.63-21.05% chance.

Our Pick: 49ers not to make the playoffs at +185; San Francisco has a solid, talented roster, but whether they are a playoff team depends on Lance. With what he showed last season, in a division as competitive as the NFC West, it is hard to have faith in the 49ers making the postseason until he proves he can be the QB the 49ers need.

NFC West Win Totals

NFC West win totals and odds are current as of July 19:

Win Totals (Over/Under)DraftKingsCaesars (Code TODAY15)BetMGM (Code TODAY)FanDuel
Los Angeles Rams10.5 -115/-10510.5 -120/+10010.5 -105/-11510.5 -110/-110

Seattle Seahawks5.5 -140/+1206 +100/-1205.5 -140/+1155.5 -125/+105

The Cardinals have gotten better every season under Kliff Kingsbury. Improving may be harder in 2022 with DeAndre Hopkins out for six weeks; it doesn’t help that they face the Chiefs, Raiders, and Rams to start the season. But if they can go 4-2 to start the season, they can win 10 games.

Los Angeles is coming off a 12-win season, but their schedule is not a kind one. They play 10 teams that made the playoffs last year, including five division winners. Two other opponents (Chargers and Broncos) are expected to be two of the most improved teams in the league.

San Francisco won 10 games last season despite getting off to a dreadful 3-5 start to the season. With Lance at quarterback, his learning curve could result in a similar start for the 49ers this year.

As for Seattle, the Seahawks were a seven-win team last season with Russell Wilson at quarterback. Without him — and with either Geno Smith or Drew Lock behind center – it is not going to be pretty for the Seahawks in 20o21.
