The Responsible Gambling Affiliate Association unveiled its first membership program at the SBC Summit North America conference this week. The organization is the largest group of companies dedicated to the “promotion and advertisement of sports betting and gaming.”
On Thursday, May 9 at 3 p.m. ET, the RGAA will hold a networking event during SBC Summit North America in Secaucus, to provide details and answer questions about the membership program. Drinks will be provided.
Gambling affiliates include vendors in the gaming industry, as well as media companies devoted to sports betting, iGaming, lottery, and other gaming topics. Catena Media, which owns Gaming Today, is an RGAA member.
Responsible Gambling One of the Touchstone Issues Facing Expansion
Responsible gambling is one of the touchstone issues facing the rapid expansion of online sports betting and casinos. There are now 38 states with legal online sports betting, and seven with some form of online casinos and/or poker. Regulatory agencies in those states work with gaming affiliates to ensure the public is educated about responsible gambling. The RGAA also sets guidelines for members to promote ethical practices.
According to the RGAA, members in their program will be eligible for “regulation updates, education, and tools aimed at empowering their individual businesses.”
“The launch of our membership program is a pivotal moment for the RGAA as we strive to promote responsible gambling practices and advocate for equitable regulation in the industry,” said RGAA chairman Max Bichsel in a press statement announcing the program. “With each new affiliate that joins [the RGAA], we fortify our efforts to ensure that integrity and consumer protection remain at the forefront of our sector.”
Earlier this year, the RGAA took a significant step when it named George Rover as its first-ever Executive Director. Rover previously served as the Deputy Director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement from 2011-16. Since 2017, Rover was a managing partner of Princeton Global Strategies. Rover set one of his goals to advocate for sensible regulation of affiliates.
