A state that saw its share of sportsbook departures in 2024 just welcomed a new operator with the Sporttrade Arizona app.
Sporttrade enters the Arizona sports betting market through a license with the Quechan Tribe. The new app replaces Unibet, then Betway, as the tribe’s sports betting operator.
Quechan Tribe President Jordan Joaquin said he is excited about the partnership.
“Quechan’s statewide mobile sports betting partnership with Sporttrade introduces an exciting new platform of wagering,” he said. “It will provide new and expanded gaming opportunities throughout Arizona.”
Arizona is Sporttrade’s fourth state, joining Colorado, Iowa, and New Jersey.
“We’re incredibly proud to announce we’ve launched in Arizona,” Sporttrade Founder and CEO Alex Kane said in a launch announcement. “There is impressive demand for our offering in Arizona because players want a premium option.”
Sports Betting Operators Partner with Arizona Tribes
Arizona has 13 sports betting options with Sporttrade’s arrival. The count could be 14 soon.
In August 2024, the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) authorized the San Carlos Apache Tribal Gaming Enterprise as the designee for a Plannatech sports betting license. The tribe operates the Apache Gold and Apache Sky casinos.
Betfred, Betway, SuperBook Sports, Unibet, and SaharaBets have all left the Arizona market in 2024.
Arizona’s pro sports franchises and venues can also partner with sports betting operators for an Arizona license.
Sporttrade Arizona Joins $4 Billion Industry
The ADG released a revenue update on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and the July 2024 totals push Arizona sports betting past the $4 billion mark for the calendar year.
Online sports betting apps, websites, and Arizona casino visits generated about $410.1 million for the month. The total is up 26.9% when compared to July 2023.
Arizona sports betting reports are typically released about 1-2 months later than they are in other states, so the seasonal surge that comes with NFL betting promos and wagers will appear in upcoming reports.
The July 2024 handle pushed the state past the $4 billion mark for the calendar year. Arizona bettors risked just shy of $4.2 billion so far in 2024.
Since sports betting debuted in September 2021, more than $18.5 billion in wagers have changed hands. The state has collected $95.1 million in taxes from mobile and retail betting.
