UFC Fight Night Betting Preview: Allen vs. Curtis 2
Brendan Allen (23-5 MMA, 11-2 UFC) has had a great UFC career since beating current Bellator/PFL fighter Aaron Jeffery on Dana White’s Contender Series.
Allen is currently on a six-fight win streak that includes five submissions. His UFC victories include names like Paul Craig, Bruno Silva, Kevin Holland, and Tom Breese.
His only losses have come from former champion Sean Strickland and Strickland’s teammate, Chris Curtis.
Chris Curtis (31-10-1 NC MMA, 5-2-1 NC UFC) is stepping in for an absent Marvin Vettori, who was originally the opponent for Allen this weekend.
It’s a respectable move by Curtis, but this fight is a rare rematch that offers something to gain for the fighter who already won in the first fight. Since their fight, Allen hasn’t lost and now holds the No. 6 ranking in the division while Curtis is ranked at 14.
Curtis’ other UFC wins include Joaquin Buckley, Phil Hawes, and Rodolfo Vieira.
Their styles will continue to clash, just like in the first matchup. Curtis is a good striker while Allen is a submission specialist. While last time striking won, Allen has improved exponentially over the course of three years and continues to look even better with each fight.
If Allen wins on Saturday, a top-five opponent next is likely. Since he was already scheduled to fight Vettori, that could be possible still.
