BetMGM NASCAR Events Fuel North Carolina Betting Growth

BetMGM’s NASCAR events should rev up excitement over the 2024 Memorial Day weekend. The NASCAR Xfinity Series comes to the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 25, for the inaugural BetMGM 300.

BetMGM has entertainment planned throughout the weekend, according to Kyle Wachtel, BetMGM’s Vice President of Partnerships.

Much of the schedule centers around BetMGM Speed Street, where fans can enjoy concerts, giveaways, and interactive games. Take a picture with Kyle Busch’s No. 8 Chevrolet or meet Austin Dillon, driver of the Richard Childress No. 8 Chevrolet.

Charlotte Motor Speedway Partners with BetMGM

North Carolina sports betting debuted in early March 2024, but BetMGM’s motorsports partnership with NASCAR dates back to 2020. BetMGM established its relationship with Richard Childress Racing in 2021.

Wachtel said those connections paid off when the lion-branded sportsbook needed a partner for the North Carolina launch.

“We’ve had an incredible experience working with each of those entities throughout the years. As North Carolina came around and we were considering opportunities to access the state — and how to reach fans most effectively — Charlotte Motor Speedway really stuck out and was ultimately the partner that we wanted to work with.”

Attendees can enjoy three full days of fan experiences and entertainment presented by BetMGM Sportsbook throughout the big race weekend, May 24-26. All times listed are Eastern.

Friday, May 24

The ARCA Menards Series General Tire 150 Truck Series race opens three nights of racing at 6 p.m.

North Carolina Education Lottery 200 follows at 8:30 p.m.

Speed Street hosts a “Friday Night Rock Extravaganza with Hairball” after the race. Hairball is known for its authentic tributes to arena rock bands from the 80s, including Aerosmith, Journey, KISS, Motley Crue, and Queen.

Saturday, May 25

Gates open at 11 a.m. for the 1 p.m. NASCAR Xfinity Series BetMGM 300.

Speed Street reopens at 3 p.m. The evening includes:

  • International DJ and producer DJ Slim
  • NASCAR Cup Series practices and qualifying
  • The outlaw country and alternative rock band Fox N’ Vead
  • Q&A sessions with NASCAR Hall of Famers Winston Kelley, Richard Childress, and the Wood Brothers

Platinum-selling country artist and “The Voice” contestant Kameron Marlowe closes out the Saturday events on Speed Street.

“We hope that fans make their way over there for the event. We will have some fun stuff from a BetMGM perspective,” Wachtel said.

Sunday, May 25

Driver appearances and a pre-race concert by Matchbox Twenty lead into the Coca-Cola 600 at 6 p.m. It’s considered the sport’s “toughest test of man and machine.”

The event is sold out, but FOX will carry the Sunday night race.

BetMGM NASCAR Betting Promos

BetMGM coupled its race sponsorship with nationwide promotions.

  • Bet insurance — paid back in bonus bets — for the BetMGM 300 (except NV, ON, and PR)
  • A 25% odds boost for the Coca-Cola 600 (except NY, NV, ON, and PR)

Bonus bets are non-withdrawable and expire in seven days.

Wachtel called BetMGM’s start in North Carolina a great success.

“We entered just before the NCAA Tournament and North Carolina is certainly a state that gets excited about college basketball. We’ve seen really great numbers from a volume perspective in terms of new customers and handle across the state. It was comparable to our launches in Massachusetts and Ohio.

“It’s been a great start and we’re hopeful that this weekend will put an exclamation point on that. North Carolina truly is at the heart of the sport.”
