Chicharito headlines the Los Angeles event
Perhaps the biggest draw is Hernández himself. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker — better known worldwide as Chicharito — will appear at the Los Angeles watch event on June 12.
Mexico’s all-time leading scorer, Hernández tallied 52 goals in 109 appearances for El Tri. He played in three World Cups and scored in each, cementing his status as one of the most beloved figures in Mexican soccer history.
Alex Morgan joins DraftKings’ World Cup campaign
DraftKings is also launching new campaigns featuring Alex Morgan, the former U.S. Women’s National Team captain who won two Women’s World Cups and collected Olympic medals during a career that made her one of the most recognizable faces in American soccer. By pairing Morgan with Chicharito, DraftKings is clearly targeting both sides of North America’s soccer fanbase.
Expanded sports betting features round out World Cup push
The company says fans can expect expanded World Cup betting offerings throughout the tournament, including player props, same-game parlays, micromarkets, live betting, player-specific event contracts and live trading opportunities. The features will also be available through DraftKings’ Spanish-language platform.
A massive stage in North America: 48 teams, 104 games, 16 cities
The 2026 FIFA World Cup runs through July 19 and spans 104 games across 16 host cities in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The tournament features a record 48 teams, up from 32 at the previous edition — and it is widely expected to become one of the largest betting events in North American history.
DraftKings executives have previously described the competition as a “massive” opportunity to engage both sharp bettors and casual fans.
“The World Cup is one of the biggest sporting moments in the world, and DraftKings is excited to deliver best-in-class fan experiences that bring customers closer to the action. Whether fans are joining us at watch events across the country or engaging on our top-rated platform, we’re creating more ways for them to celebrate the tournament this summer,” said Shawn Henley, DraftKings chief customer officer, in a DraftKings press release.
