Fanatics to Enter North Carolina Sports Betting Market With Carolina Hurricanes

In preparation for next year’s introduction of mobile sports betting in North Carolina, Fanatics Sportsbook has successfully obtained approval to operate in the state’s market. This approval was secured through a strategic partnership with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, marking a significant collaboration between the sports betting platform and the esteemed hockey team.

Fanatics Sportsbook is currently engaged in mobile betting activities across nine states. In adherence to the state’s regulations, operators seeking entry into North Carolina’s mobile betting market are mandated to establish partnerships with professional sports franchises or venues. Hence, Fanatics will collaborate with the Carolina Hurricanes, a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina, which competes in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Although the state lottery has not disclosed the official launch date, North Carolina betting apps are anticipated to be operational in the first half of 2024.

Potential Partnerships Hitting North Carolina Soon

Other partnerships on the horizon in the state include an anticipated partnership between DraftKings and NASCAR, as well as a collaborative effort between BetMGM and Betway focusing on two racetracks within the state for access.

Even though there has been no formal announcement, it is anticipated that these partnerships will be disclosed shortly, especially given the North Carolina lottery’s directive for operators to submit applications for mobile licenses by Dec. 27. This deadline underscores the urgency for these sports betting entities to establish the necessary collaborations to secure their foothold in the burgeoning North Carolina mobile betting sector.

Several operators have officially confirmed their partnerships to conduct business in the Tar Heel State. Notable among these collaborations is the partnership established with bet365 and the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, making it the first operator to be announced.

ESPN Bet Strikes Deal With Quail Hollow Club

Just over a month into its existence, ESPN BET revealed its collaboration with the Quail Hollow Club this December. This partnership grants ESPN Bet exclusive access to North Carolina through the Quail Hollow Club, which hosts an annual PGA Tour event and is slated to host a men’s major championship in 2025.

Fanatics Sportsbook is positioned as the fourth operator in line to launch a sports betting platform in the state, pending the necessary licensing approval. The company is poised to join the ranks of other operators seeking to offer sports wagering services in the state, further contributing to the dynamic landscape of the emerging North Carolina sports betting market.

Although mobile sports betting may not be set in time for the Super Bowl, which is scheduled for Feb. 11, it will still be launched just in time for the NCAA March Madness Tournament.

In other news, last week, Fanatics Sportsbook announced a soft launch in Connecticut to bring retail and online sports betting to the Constitution State.
