Happy Friday, and welcome back to another great day of baseball. Today’s slate includes 13 games, with start times spanning all day. This gives bettors plenty of time to find a winning bet, and we are here to help with our best MLB NRFI and YRFI picks for Friday, April 5.
A full day of action is exciting for several reasons. First, we can sit back, relax, and watch baseball all day. Second, games will run until late at night, giving us enough opportunities to place a few MLB bets.
Here, we will go over our three favorite MLB NRFI/YRFI bets.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks
Mariners vs. Brewers – NRFI ()
This matchup features two ineffective offenses and two excellent starting pitchers. I may not have to say more than that for this MLB NRFI bet, but let’s dive deeper into this game.
First, Seattle’s lineup has been shockingly bad to start the year. They are in the bottom five of the league in BA (.196), OBP (.261), SLG (.269), wRC+ (68), and wOBA (.253). The Mariners have also only scored 17 runs and are striking out more than anyone else in the league.
Conversely, Milwaukee is 4-1, primarily because of the pitching staff. The Brewers have only scored 20 runs and have a 105 wRC+. They do not hit the ball all that hard, but Milwaukee is around league average at getting on base. With a dynamite pitching staff, they just need to be good enough to put up a few runs to win.
Tonight’s starting pitching matchup features Freddy Peralta for the Brewers and Logan Gilbert for the Mariners. Both are off to solid starts this season, as Peralta pitched six innings and struck out eight batters while only allowing one run off a solo home run. Meanwhile, Gilbert also struck out eight while allowing one run but pitched seven innings.
Neither offense is hitting the ball well, and we have two great starters on the mound tonight. This is an easy NRFI pick.
Rays vs. Rockies – YRFI ()
The first game of the season at Coors Field offers great scoring opportunities, especially early in the game.
First, Colorado is the best place to hit, resulting in more fly balls turning into home runs or extra-base hits off the wall. Second, the wind will blow heavily toward center field at the first pitch.
The Rockies and Rays have not been hitting the ball to start the season, but Colorado does have some potential at the top, with Charlie Blackmon leading off, followed by Brendan Rodgers, Nolan Jones, and Kris Bryant. Although Tampa Bay will send out Zach Little, who is coming off a great first start, the Rockies’ offense gives me enough hope that they could string together a few hits or a home run early, especially in these conditions.
While the Rays have not been much better at producing runs, they hit the ball hard and have a favorable matchup against Austin Gomber. In the lefties’ first start, he allowed four runs, including two home runs in 4.2 IP against Arizona.
Tampa Bay has plenty of right-handed bats at the top of the order in Yandy Diaz, Randy Arozarena, and Isaac Paredes, who have enough pop to jump on Gomber early. The game total is set at () for a reason. There should be plenty of scoring chances in this matchup, especially early.
Mets vs. Reds – YRFI ()
We are a little over a week into the new season, and the Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets have not scored a first-inning run this season. However, the Reds’ offense has a lot of pop and can get hot anytime, especially against weak Mets’ pitching.
New York’s rotation is not good, as they will send out Jose Quintana for his second start of the season. In his first, he started strong but was pulled after two runs and two walks in 4.2 IP. He also gave up two barrels and had a 53.3% hard-hit rate. Cincinnati has the second-highest HardHit% and ranks 12th in Barrel% this season.
Meanwhile, the Reds will start Hunter Greene, a matchup that a flailing Mets lineup can take advantage of. Greene’s first start was not all that great either, finishing with two runs and two walks in 4.2 IP. However, he did not allow a run until the fourth inning.
The Mets’ lineup has been horrendous, but Greene struggles with his command, and New York ranks 10th in walk rate. We have two starters who can get in some early trouble and a Reds lineup that can really tee off. It may take a Herculean effort for the Mets to get one (1) hit, but we will take those odds.
