The NHL regular season is coming to a close, and soon, one of, if not the best, postseasons in sports will be here. Until then, we have night action to enjoy and place a few bets on. Tonight’s slate may be a little light, but plenty of great betting markets are still available.

Let’s take a look at our three best NHL player props for Wednesday, April 10.

NHL Player Prop Bets: April 10

Kevin Hayes Over Shots on Goal

The St. Louis Blues have made a late push to the postseason, winning nine of their last 15. While they will probably need to win out and get some help, this is the perfect spot to start their run.

However, the Chicago Blackhawks are playing its best hockey of the season entering tonight. They have improved on both sides of the ice, especially on offense.

But we will focus on the Blues offense for this player prop. Chicago’s defense is still a wildcard on any night, and the Blues are in desperation mode, needing some strong outings to extend their season. St. Louis has one of the worst offenses in the league, but this is a good spot for players like Kevin Hayes to have plenty of scoring opportunities.

Over the last four games, Hayes has exceeded this number twice, including a five-shot performance two games ago against Nashville. The Predators allow the eight most shot attempts per game but still are not on the same level of poor defensive play as Chicago.

Despite a noticeably improving defense, the Blackhawks still allow the second-most shots per game. If Chicago can continue improving, that will force the Blues into a negative game script, where they will be looking to attack more often than not.

Hayes’ ice time has decreased recently, but he is also coming off the flu, which knocked him out for a few games. If you take this prop, you will likely be laying a lot of juice. Still, there will be plenty of opportunities for shots on net.

Quinn Hughes Over Points

The Canucks have already clinched a playoff spot but are still looking to close out the regular season with a Pacific Division title. They currently lead Edmonton by five points, with four games to play. A win tonight would all but wrap up the division, and they have one of the worst teams in hockey tonight, the Arizona Coyotes.

Arizona has won five of its last nine, but the defense is still wildly inconsistent, allowing 4.75 goals per game in their last four losses. The Canucks top-ranked attack could really do some damage tonight, especially Quinn Hughes, who is having the best season of his young career.

The 24-year-old has set career highs in +/- (39), assists (71), goals (17), and points (88). He has also played well down the stretch, recording seven points in his last five games, including two against the Coyotes earlier this month.

Hughes also plays much better on his home ice, as expected. He averages 1.2 points per game at home, and while the Coyotes actually perform slightly better on the road, it is not enough to offset how much better Vancouver is. Arizona is also playing its fourth game in five days and is coming off a shutout loss to the Kraken.

The urgency to win is high tonight, as a victory for the Canucks can all but wrap up the division, even with a game in Edmonton later this week. Expect the offense to keep putting up big numbers and for Hughes to have another solid outing.

NHL Player Prop Bets: Best Anytime Goal Scorer

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ()

As of Wednesday afternoon, Connor McDavid is questionable for tonight’s matchup against Vegas. While he was at morning skate today, he still is a game-time decision. The Oilers have clinched a playoff berth but are making one last run at the division title.

McDavid is clearly the best player in the league, and his potential absence could loom large tonight. However, it also means there is value elsewhere to replace his production on player prop markets. Even if he does play, Edmonton is more focused on him being healthy for the postseason rather than winning the Pacific title.

For our NHL goal scorer prop, we will focus on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Although he is not as productive as last season, he still has 64 points and 18 goals. His home/away splits also show that he performs much better in Edmonton.

The Golden Knights have one of the best defenses in the NHL, but they are limping to the finish line. Goalie Adin Hill will not play tonight, so we will see Logan Thompson again. Thompson is having a solid season but has allowed 10 goals in his last two games, including six against a terrible Arizona offense.

Edmonton is also playing some of the best 5-on-5 hockey down the stretch, and Nugent-Hopkins has seen his ice time increase over the last few days. He is coming off his first goal since March 26 in his previous time out, and at this price, he is well worth a play to score again.
