Very few performers can sell out a Vegas showroom on a Monday night in early March. But, the loser of America’s Got Talent, Piff the Magic Dragon can.

No, that’s not a typo, this extraordinary entertainer embraces the fact he did not win AGT. But, as a Strip headliner at the Flamingo Las Vegas, he did get the last laugh, winning the Triple Crown in 2019: Best Comedian/ Best Headliner/ Best Magic Show. World renowned magician David Copperfield said” Piff is the best, a true original.”

Growing up in Southeast London, John van der Put inspired to be a magician. The comedy aspect came about after interacting with crowd members. In 2008, he created his stage persona, Piff the Magic Dragon, dressing in a green, red, and yellow dragon costume, with self-deprecating humor and deadpan delivery.

At his side is Mr. Piffles, the world’s only magic performing chihuahua, also donning a dragon suit. Joining the pair is showgirl, Jade Simone, who is the real life spouse of van der Put, making for some great on stage chemistry.

If you are trying to get a grasp of the show, imagine Larry David in a dragon suit performing jaw-dropping magic tricks and you’re on the right track. Each night, the show varies. Being an audience member, you are as much a part of the show as this amazing cast. You never know what is going to come out of Piff’s mouth and his comedy is so genius and genuine that even he can not hold back the laughter.

If James Brown was dubbed as “The hardest working man in show business,” Piff isn’t too far behind. He works about 250 nights per year at the Piff the Magic Dragon Theatre at Bugsy’s Cabaret at the famed Vegas location and another 100 days a year on the road.

van der Put said: “I love it here. I tour all over the world and being that everyone visits Vegas, people from all around the world get to see me here.

“I want to see and perform for as many of my fans as possible, so make sure you book ahead because we sell out almost every night.”

There are scheduled performances through Sept. 1 at the Flamingo. The Piff’s Private Party is a VIP meet and greet experience including premium seating, souvenir poster, photo, one-on-one magic trick with Piff and a chance to win a Mr. Piffles doll. There is also a free meet and greet after the show outside the showroom for some fun and a free photo.

Whether you come in looking for magic or looking for comedy, you get both and you leave satisfied.
