March online betting handle showed a 13.2% month-to-month increase, with New Jersey books taking just over $780 million in online sports bets.

New Jersey is on pace to possibly hit the $10 billion mark in annual betting handle by the end of 2021. While the launch of legal mobile wagering in New York could affect that projection, New Jersey still stands atop the US sports betting industry for now.

Michigan’s online sports betting industry posted healthy betting handle numbers right out of the gate since debuting in January 2021. March marked the first month for Michigan’s mobile sports betting apps to post combined positive net revenues.
The Great Lakes State produced $359.4 million in mobile betting handle in March, marking a 19.1% month-to-month increase. While pre-launch offers and welcome bonuses led to net revenue losses in January and February, Michigan’s online sportsbooks turned the corner into profitability in March.

The hyper-competitive Michigan market sees BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, and Barstool Sportsbook competing for the No. 1 market share spot. BetMGM is winning that battle so far in terms of revenue, but the diversity of choices for Michigan sports bettors appears to be a hit in the state.
