As part of the 8,000th episode of Wheel of Fortune, for the first time, a progressive jackpot will be used on the popular answer & question game show. BetMGM will sponsor “Big Money Week” for WOF’s shows for the week of May 20-24.
The progressive jackpot will grow each night that week, building a prize that will be awarded if that night’s winner answers a special bonus puzzle. This is the first time in the history of the show that a bonus puzzle will occur after the game’s ultimate puzzle for that show.
Also new for this week of shows will be two BetMGM-branded “Double Jackpot” wedges on the wheel. If a player spin lands on one of those wedges, they have a chance to double the amount that will be added to the progressive jackpot.
Home Viewers Can Win the Nightly Progressive Jackpot
Home viewers can win too: by visiting the official Wheel of Fortune website to enter for a chance to win the Nightly Progressive Jackpot. This opportunity is available even if the progressive pot is won by a TV contestant, and it can also be doubled based on whether a double-pot wedge is played.
The commitment from BetMGM will give it multiple opportunities to share its brand with viewers of the top-rated game show. This includes a co-branded graphic displayed in the center monitor, displays of BetMGM’s logo on host Pat Sajak’s monitor during the show, and a customized BetMGM jackpot ticker, which will be revealed above the puzzle board during each episode for the week of May 20-24.
“BetMGM is honored to join Wheel of Fortune during this milestone week and be a part of a game show that has earned a place in American television history. Big Money Week’ is a great collaboration, giving contestants and viewers at home the opportunity to experience the excitement of a progressive jackpot,” said BetMGM Chief Executive Officer Adam Greenblatt.
This is not the first foray for BetMGM into the game show realm. Last year, BetMGM teamed with gaming developer IGT to bring Wheel of Fortune Online Casino to the market. There are also many Wheel of Fortune-themed slot games in MGM Casinos.
According to Nielsen, Wheel of Fortune averages more than 9 million viewers nightly, and in excess of 21 million unique viewers weekly. The show, hosted by Pat Sajak, is in its 41st season.
