Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg is expected to oversee a broader portfolio of Tilman Fertitta’s businesses as the Caesars acquisition proceeds, according to Vital Vegas.
The reported role would extend beyond casinos to restaurants, hotels, resorts and real estate, but would exclude the Houston Rockets. Reeg taking on more would help Free up Fertitta’s schedule as he is currently the U.S. ambassador to Italy and San Marino.
Fertitta’s acquisition of Caesars was announced in May 2026 for about $17.6 billion, with closing expected by mid-2027. Reeg took over as CEO on July 20, 2020, after Eldorado Resorts completed its acquisition of Caesars.
Reeg’s Reported Role Extends Beyond Caesars
On Tuesday, Vital Vegas reported Reeg is expected to oversee Fertitta’s sprawling business empire.
That would represent a broader assignment than the one described in the original acquisition announcement, which, according to the report, said Reeg would continue leading Caesars.
The scope reaches well beyond the land-based casinos, online casinos and sports betting that Reeg deals with daily. Landry’s has 60 restaurant brands under its umbrella, according to Vital Vegas, as well as two public aquariums in Denver and Houston.
Fertitta owns Golden Nugget casinos, but not the online business of the same name anymore. That was sold to DraftKings in August 2021.
