DraftKings’ multi-faceted US expansion now includes sports entertainment. WWE and DraftKings announced a partnership Monday that brings in DraftKings as the “Official Gaming Partner” of WWE.
The agreement integrates DraftKings branding into WWE channels and creates a new genre of free-to-play fantasy contests centered around WWE programming. The first of these free-to-play pools debuts April 10-11 at WrestleMania, WWE’s flagship pay-per-view event.
WWE fans can look forward to DraftKings fantasy contests revolving around WWE matches and storylines after WrestleMania as well.
“As a cultural icon and incredible sports and entertainment company, we are thrilled to join forces with WWE and introduce its devoted fanbase to the DraftKings brand,” said DraftKings Chief Business Officer Ezra Kucharz in a press release. “This relationship helps fuel the engagement and drama of WWE’s signature matchups and storylines as audiences enjoy the second-screen experiences our products provide.”
DraftKings Expansion Continues With WWE Collaboration
The partnership with WWE continues DraftKings’ push into non-traditional sports and entertainment genres. DraftKings announced a partnership with the American Cornhole League earlier this month.
DraftKings also entered into an agreement with UFC on March 4, becoming the “Official Sportsbook and Daily Fantasy Partner” of the MMA juggernaut.
The WWE partnership continues a busy month of partnership announcements from DraftKings.
“We’re excited to enter this new agreement that makes DraftKings WWE’s first-ever free to play gaming partner,” said WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon. “This collaboration marks a significant step in deepening engagement with our passionate fans and will provide DraftKings the opportunity to leverage the massive appeal and reach of the WWE brand.”
WWE fans looking to participate in the WrestleMania fantasy pools can find the pay-per-view on the Peacock streaming service. WrestleMania emanates from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL, April 10 and 11.
Headline matches for Wrestlemania include WWE Champion Bobby Lashley taking on challenger Drew McIntyre. Gaming Today projects Lashley as the go-to pick for DraftKings players in the WWE title tilt.
