Last season was a good one for bettors that got behind the Los Angeles Rams at their favorite sportsbooks. While the 2022 NFL season is shaping up to be a good one as well, supporters had to hate hearing about the ‘abnormal’ elbow pain quarterback Matthew Stafford was experiencing.
Stafford has since downplayed the reports, but once bettors hear about something like that, they can’t forget it. While it has impacted betting odds, the impact appears to be primarily to the Rams’ season opener against the Buffalo Bills and not futures.
Expectations are high for Stafford and the Rams for the 2022 NFL season. Here’s a look at their odds for, well, pretty much everything.
Rams’ Odds To Win Super Bowl 57 & Other Futures
Defending champions often open as favorites to repeat the following year, but that is not the case for the Rams this season. While that distinction goes to the Buffalo Bills, the Rams should be in the conversation again.
Rams 2022 Futures Odds | DraftKings | "Caesars: Promo Code Today15" | BetRivers |
---|---|---|---|
Super Bowl 57 | +1200 | +1200 | +1100 |
NFC | +550 | +500 | +500 |
NFC West | +130 | +120 | +125 |
To Make The Playoffs (Yes/No) | -250/+200 | -280/+230 | -278/+220 |
Barring an injury to someone like Matt Stafford or Aaron Donald, the Rams will again be competitive and one of the better teams in the league. Losing Von Miller hurts the defense, but picking up Bobby Wagner makes up for it. Robert Woods has departed, but Allen Robinson is now in the mix, and Odell Beckham Jr. is hinting he wants to return.
Rams’ 2022 Season Win Total
The win total for the Rams is the same at six major sportsbooks, so bettors should look for the least expensive juice on the wager they want to make. As shown here, ‘over’ bettors can get even-money odds (+100) at BetRivers and BetMGM, while ‘under’ bettors are offered that same price at Caesars.
Sportsbooks | DraftKings | "Caesars: Promo Code Today15" | BetRivers | FanDuel | BetMGM: Promo Code TODAY | PointsBet |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Win Total | 10.5 (-105/-125) | 10.5 (-110/+100) | 10.5 (-115/-106) | 10 (-125/+105) | 10.5 (-105/-115) | 10.5 (-110/-110) |
Of their 12 regular-season wins last season, the margin of victory in four was seven points or less. Had a play or call or two not gone their way, the Rams could have been an eight- or nine-win team and missed out on the postseason. However, the best teams in the NFL are the ones that win the close games.
Point Spreads On Key Games
As the defending champs, the Rams will be must-see-tv in 2022. The NFL is capitalizing on that by scheduling the Rams in primetime five times during the regular season. But the Rams also have a first-place schedule, which means they face many of the league’s best teams, whether they are in primetime or not:
Point Spreads On Key Games | DraftKings | "Caesars: Promo Code Today15" |
---|---|---|
Week 1 vs. Bills, 8:20 | +2.5 | +2.5 |
Week 4 @ 49ers | -1 | Pick |
Week 5 vs. Cowboys | -4.5 | -5.5 |
Week 8 vs. 49ers | -4.5 | -4 |
Week 9 @ Buccaneers | +1.5 | +2 |
Week 12 @ Chiefs | +2.5 | +3 |
Week 15 @ Packers | Pick | Pick |
Week 16 vs. Broncos | -3 | |
Week 17 @ Chargers | +1.5 |
Los Angeles opened as a one-point favorite against the Bills in the season opener, but the line quickly moved in favor of Buffalo. But as concern over Stafford’s elbow grew, the line moved in favor of the Bills yet again (the Rams went from +1 to +2.5). With concern over Stafford’s elbow dissipating, it would not be shocking if the line were to move again, but this time in favor of the Rams.
The Rams have 10 games against teams that made the playoffs last year, including five division winners, and the Chargers and Broncos are projected to be among the most-improved teams in the league in 2022. The Chargers opened as favorites in their Week 17 matchup.
Rams Player Props
A team good enough to win the Super Bowl has talented players primed to put up award-worthy performances during the regular season. That was certainly the case last season (Cooper Kupp, Offensive Player of the Year), and the Rams again have several players worth bettors’ consideration in different markets:
Notable Rams Prop Bets For The 2022 Season | DraftKings | "Caesars: Promo Code Today15" | BetRivers |
---|---|---|---|
Matthew Stafford--Reg. Season Passing Yrds Ldr | +1000 | +750 | +1000 |
Cam Akers-- Most Rushing Yards | +3000 | +3000 | +3000 |
Cooper Kupp-- Most Receiving Yards | +900 | +800 (F) | +800 (F) |
Matthew Stafford-- MVP | +1600 | +1600 | +1400 |
Cooper Kupp-- MVP | +6000 | +6000 | +6600 |
Cooper Kupp-- OPOY | +1200 | +1000 | |
Mathew Stafford-- OPOY | +5000 | +4000 | |
Aaron Donald--DPOY | +750 | +700 (F) | +700 (F) |
Cam Akers-- CPOY | +2500 | +2500 | +2000 |
Sean McVay-- COY | +2500 | +1500 | +3000 |
While the competition for NFL MVP is stiff, the Rams lean on Stafford and the passing game; he’ll be in contention as long as he stays healthy and performs at a high level. He’ll also probably be among the league leaders in passing yards totals (he ranked third last year, 430 yards behind Tom Brady).
For now, concerns over his elbow have not had a significant impact on Stafford’s MVP odds.
The Rams are unlikely to give Cam Akers enough carries for him to come close to leading the league in rushing yards. Kupp could lead the league in receiving yards again, but teams will likely focus on minimizing his impact. Kupp last year became the first receiver to get an MVP vote since Randy Moss (1998).
A wide receiver has never won NFL regular-season MVP honors. The last time there was a repeat Offensive Player of the Year winner was over 20 years ago — Marshall Faulk won it three straight years, from 1999 to 2001.
Additional Betting Markets For the Los Angeles Rams And Players
Buffalo has been the betting favorite to win Super Bowl 57 since the market opened, but the Rams have remained close to the top of betting boards. You can find the latest Super Bowl 57 odds on our Super Bowl 57 Odds page. If you are thinking about getting behind the Rams to win the Super Bowl, you may be interested in their NFC Championship odds, too.
But if you are interested more in player props or award markets, there are plenty of solid options in the AFC East:
- Coach of the Year odds: As a coach with a track record of success, it may be hard for Sean McVay to win COY honors.
- Comeback Player of the Year odds: Allen Robinson and Cam Akers could be great value plays.
- NFL MVP: If Stafford’s elbow can last the season, he’ll probably be in contention.
- Defensive Player of the Year odds: Aaron Donald is always in the conversation for DPOY.
- Cooper Kupp is not the favorite for Offensive Player of the Year odds anymore, but he is still one of the leading candidates.
- The Rams are a passing team, but in light of Stafford’s elbow issues, he may not throw enough to lead the league in passing. His most passing yards odds make him a solid sleeper, though.
- The Rams may try to run more this season with Cam Akers back and healthy, but his most rushing yards odds are long for a reason.
- Odds favor OBJ returning to the Rams.
- Could the Rams run the table anf go 17-0 in the regular season? It’s possible…
