2024 AL Manager of the Year Odds: Favorites
AJ Hinch, Detroit Tigers
This is an exciting time to be a Detroit Tigers fan. After nearly a decade of suffering, Detroit is finally reaping the rewards of acquiring top draft selections. The Tigers finished second in the AL Central last season, their best end-of-season ranking since 2016.
Not only are the Tigers in a good spot with a young roster and even more top prospects waiting to debut, but they also have World Series experience with AJ Hinch. Yes, his 2017 World Series title is highly controversial, but he has completely turned a sinking Tigers organization around in just three seasons.
There is still a lot of work to do, but the Tigers are projected to finish second in the Central, according to BetMGM. If they can compete for a playoff spot, Hinch is the likely candidate to win AL Manager of the Year.
Matt Quatraro, Kansas City Royals
Another bottom-feeder AL Central team’s manager is near the top of the oddsboards. Although Kansas City still has many questions, especially in the bullpen, they made a concerted effort to surround new franchise player Bobby Witt Jr. with a winning roster.
The Royals finished last in the AL Central in Matt Quatraro‘s first season as manager. However, they have the young pieces to make a run this year, and adding veteran arms to the pitching staff and bullpen should make them more competitive in a wide-open division.
While their offseason moves certainly improved the team, the offense does not inspire much optimism. If Quatraro can lead the Royals to 70-80 wins, he will be well in contention to win Manager of the Year.
2024 AL Manager of the Year Odds: Value Pick
Stephen Vogt, Cleveland Guardians
The top three in AL Manager of the Year odds all belong in the AL Central. This makes sense, considering that this division is the most uncertain in baseball. Two years ago, the Guardians made a surprise run to win the division on the backs of the youngest team in baseball.
The following season was a mess and ended up being the final year of Terry Francona’s tenure in Cleveland. First-time manager Stephen Vogt has been handed the reins and will look to get this team back on track.
Although the lineup is not great outside of Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor, the Guardians once again feature a top-ranked pitching staff. If Vogt can get some of the young talent to hit the ball, Cleveland should be the favorite to win the Central, which would make Vogt a great value play for Manager of the Year odds.

2024 NL Manager of the Year Odds: Favorites
Craig Counsell, Chicago Cubs
Craig Counsell left the NL Central champion Milwaukee Brewers for a job with a division rival, the Chicago Cubs. With the Brewers, Counsell won three division championships but never advanced further than the NLDS.
Despite his success, Counsell has not been recognized as Manager of the Year. Now that he is with one of the game’s premier franchises, he puts himself in a good spot to win the award if he can lead the Cubs to the postseason.
At BetMGM, the Cubs are +190 to win the NL Central. However, Counsell’s odds to win NL Manager of the Year at +600 may be the best value on the board if you believe the Cubs will make the playoffs. It is hard to imagine anyone but Counsell winning if he leads the Cubs to its first division title since 2020.
David Bell, Cincinnati Reds
The Central Divisions seem to be dominating the early Manager of the Year odds, and for good reason. Like the AL Central, the NL is wide-open.
Last season, the Cincinnati Reds became one of the most fun teams to watch with a fleet of youngsters, including Elly De La Cruz, Spencer Steer, Will Benson, and Christian Encarnacion-Strand. Although betting odds still have them listed behind the Cardinals and Cubs to win the division, David Bell‘s squad is primed for a playoff run.
The Reds have had winning seasons in three of Bell’s five seasons in charge, and this team may have the most ready talent. If Cincinnati can improve on last season and win the Central, Bell will almost certainly take home the Manager of the Year.
2024 NL Manager of the Year Odds: Value Pick
Carlos Mendoza, New York Mets
One year after a 100-win season in Queens, the Mets completely faceplanted in 2023, with 75 wins and a fourth-place NL East finish. Injuries played a significant role in the Mets’ collapse last season, and they have already started selling off some pieces from the 2022 team.
This year, they have a new manager, Carlos Mendoza, and a strong core of players. The starting lineup is depleted, but they filled it with high-upside players such as Luis Severino, Jose Quintana, and Sean Manaea.
The lineup also has a lot of star power with Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Alvarez. If the Mets can stay healthy, they have a shot at making a surprise run at the NL East crown, which would easily give Mendoza the edge in Manager of the Year.
