The first month of NFL action is somehow behind us, and it’s been a less-than-stellar start for Wong Teaser selections. We’re hoping to bounce back with our NFL Week 5 teaser pick, which features one home favorite and one home underdog.

We are betting two-team, 6-point NFL teasers in this space with either favorites laying -7.5 to -8.5 or underdogs getting between +1.5 and +2.5. Wong Teasers cross through the most critical “3” and “7” numbers on both legs of the bet.

Wong Teasers are one way for a bettor to gain an edge on a bookmaker. Be sure to shop around at different sportsbooks that offer -120 odds on a two-team, 6-point teaser. In our examples, we’ll be betting $120 to win $100 on a Wong Teaser.

Chiefs (-1.5) + Browns (+8.5) is Week 5’s Top Teaser

Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5) over Las Vegas Raiders

The Chiefs went into Tampa Bay on SNF and handled their business, 41-31. In doing so, Patrick Mahomes & Co. also ruined our Week 4 teaser that included the Bucs +7.5.

While the Raiders finally showed up last week in their 32-23 win over Denver at home, Las Vegas started the season 0-3 overall and ATS. Kansas City has proved early this year that it’s again the team to beat in the AFC West. The Chiefs have hosted a record four consecutive AFC Championship games.

KC tight end Travis Kelce should feast against the Raiders at home. Kelce pulled down nine catches for 92 yards and a TD against the Bucs. He’s hit paydirt in three of four games this season.

In its only home game to date, Kansas City defeated the LA Chargers, 27-24. The Chiefs failed to cover as a four-point home favorite. The genius of the Wong Teaser is getting them down through “7” and “3” and laying only -1.5 against Las Vegas, which in our estimation, is nowhere near as good as the Chargers this year.

Cleveland Browns (+8.5) over Los Angeles Chargers

The joy and more than occasional befuddlement of the NFL is that it’s truly a week-to-week league. We used Atlanta as a home dog (+7.5 adjusted teaser spread) last week against Cleveland. The Browns are now in the reverse role getting points at home, all the way to +8.5 here against the Chargers.

Cleveland runs the ball exceptionally well. The Browns are second in the league with 749 yards rushing due to bell cow RB Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. They average five yards a pop. The Chargers are last in the NFL with 258 yards on the ground (2.7 yards per carry).

Another important consideration here: Browns DE Myles Garrett (shoulder/biceps) returned to practice for Cleveland yesterday. Both Garrett and fellow DE Jadeveon Clowney missed last week’s game at Atlanta. If one or both are back, that will go a long way toward disrupting Chargers QB Justin Herbert in the pocket.

Cleveland’s ability to run the ball will also allow it to dictate game flow. Take the Browns +8.5 to cash this Wong Teaser.

Week 4 Wong Teaser Result: Loss

Falcons (+7.5) over Browns AND Bucs (+7.5) over Chiefs

Atlanta gave us a great start to last week’s Wong Teaser, winning its home game outright over Cleveland. The Falcons pushed their ATS record to a perfect 4-0. Tampa Bay, unfortunately, let us down in the SNF nightcap against Kansas City. The Bucs lost 41-31 and failed to cover our teaser by a FG.

2022 Wong Teaser Record: 1-3

Season Bottom Line: -$260
