Online Pennsylvania sports betting hit its second-highest handle of the year in October, though NFL results dragged revenue down compared to September.
PA online sportsbooks brought in $811.8 million in handle this past month, a 6.1% increase over September’s total, according to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. It’s the third time online betting handle has topped $800 million this year.
While handle increased, though, revenue fell on hard times, dropping 46.1%.
FanDuel leads the way with $344M in handle
All but three online sportsbooks that generated bets this past month posted gains. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh’s BetRivers platform led the way with 20% growth compared to September.
In terms of overall handle, Valley Forge Casino’s FanDuel online book once again led the way with $344.7 million, followed by ESPN Bet:

Pennsylvania sports betting revenue down vs. September
While handle soared this month, Pennsylvania online sportsbook revenue stumbled. It fell 46.1% month over month to $25.4 million in October.
Only two sportsbooks saw their revenue improve: Presque Isle Downs & Casino’s bet365 and Live! Casino Philadelphia’s FanDuel. But even those two casinos struggled, as their “growth” was merely a decrease in month-over-month losses, not an increase in winnings.
What’s ahead for Pennsylvania online sports betting?
While this may be the season of the sticks as cold weather strips trees bare, things are heating up for sports betting.
We could see at least one more month where PA online books break the $800 million barrier before the end of the year.
