Fanatics Betting and Gaming, under the umbrella of Fanatics Holdings, has announced a long-term partnership with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes. This strategic partnership aims to secure market access for the Fanatics sportsbook within the burgeoning North Carolina sports betting landscape.
This collaboration is in preparation for the imminent launch of online sports betting in the Tar Heel State. Subject to regulatory approval, the established agreement between both entities will see Fanatics become the official sports betting partner of the Hurricanes.
Securing an agreement with the ice hockey team became imperative for the sportsbook, owing to the state regulations mandating that operators seeking entry among North Carolina sports betting apps must establish partnerships with professional franchises or venues within the state.
Speaking on the partnership, Ari Borod, Chief Business Officer, Fanatics Betting and Gaming, said:
“We are excited to have the Carolina Hurricanes as our market access partner in North Carolina.
We are working with one of the most talented professional sports organizations that knows how to grow a sports business by putting a competitive product out on the ice.
We look forward to partnering with the organization to bring sports fans in North Carolina a sports betting product that meets the expectations of such a passionate fanbase.”
Don Waddell, Hurricanes President and GM, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating:
“The Hurricanes are thrilled to welcome Fanatics as our Official Sports Betting Partner. Fanatics Sportsbook will bring a user-friendly experience for North Carolinians to wager on sports responsibly, and we’re proud to partner with them on this endeavor.”
The Fantastic Six
Fanatics joins the list of top operators who have gained access to the Tar Heel sports betting market. The sportsbook becomes the sixth operator to secure a partnership in the state with a professional franchise or venue.
Bet365 North Carolina entered an exclusive partnership with the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, becoming their official sports betting partner. Meanwhile, Penn Entertainment’s ESPN BET secured an alliance with the Quail Hollow Club.
FanDuel extended its NC partnership with the PGA Tour without a sponsorship element. At the beginning of the year, DraftKings NC partnered with NASCAR, and BetMGM NC secured a deal with Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Fanatics to Establish Retail Sportsbook at PNC Arena
This partnership provides access to the North Carolina market for mobile sports betting and presents the prospect of establishing a retail sportsbook at PNC Arena.
Furthermore, the partnership extends to various marketing assets, encompassing in-arena signage, broadcast integrations, and PNC Arena activations designed explicitly for hockey enthusiasts. It also provides numerous opportunities for engagement with Fanatics Sportsbook, presenting Hurricanes fans and ticket holders with diverse ways to interact with the platform.
With Vermont sports betting officially launching on Thursday, Fanatics now operates in ten states in the US. The sportsbook, which only went live in August 2023, offers a seamless experience for fans, featuring fast signup, easy betting, transparent withdrawals, live streaming, and industry-leading search functionality.
It also features the ability to earn FanCash on bets and a curated Discover page highlighting the sports and bets that matter most to customers.
According to the announcement, Fanatics Betting and Gaming and the Carolina Hurricanes will place responsible gaming at the forefront of their principles.
Customers engaging online will have access to Responsible Gaming tools, allowing them to manage their time and financial resources effectively. This underscores both entities’ joint commitment to cultivating a secure and enjoyable sports betting experience.
