Totals
Total bets differ from spread and moneyline bets in the sense that their results do not depend on the win/loss nature of a contest. Rather, totals bets are dependent on the amount of points or goals in a game. Sportsbooks set an Over/Under for each game, and bettors can wager on whether more (over) or less (under) points will be scored. If the total Ducks vs. Buckeyes game as is set at 57.5, for example, those who bet the over need more than 57,5 combined points to be scored. Those betting the under would need less than 57.5 points to be scored.
Total bets usually provide (-110) odds on both sides, meaning that you would need to wager $110 to win $100 on the average total bet.
Player Props
Player props offer Over/Under values on statistical categories for individual players. Whether it be receptions and passing yards in football or 3-pointers and points in basketball, people can wager these as straight bets or as legs in a same-game parlay.
Oregon sportsbooks do not offer player props on college sports.
Futures

Oregon Sports Betting Laws
The sports betting legalization effort in Oregon was always ahead of its time.
It all began when Oregon pushed for and legalized a parlay-style game called Sports Action. This was effectively a state-run sports betting game akin to the lottery, except participants could place parlay sports bets rather than placing cash on lottery numbers. Oregon was actually one of the four states exempt from PASPA, which was initially passed in 1992.
Sports Action was dissolved in 2007, and sports betting legalization kicked into high gear only in 2018 when the Supreme Court finally struck down PASPA. The Oregon Lottery pushed quickly to bring regulated wagering back to Oregon residents.
The Chinook Winds Casino Resort actually beat the lottery to the punch and offered a retail sportsbook in August 2019. However, the lottery soon followed with the only online sportsbook in October of the same year.
HB 2127
These days, the push for future sports betting freedom has continued. Former Gov. Kate Brown backed the HB 2127 bill that recently received its first reading in the Oregon House of Representatives.
It’s a six-page bill that includes references to fee structures and a few provisional regulations. But it also intentionally spares on other details, such as what the actual sports betting tax rate ought to be for players and providers, likely to leave room for some debate and discussion in the House and Senate.
With Brown and similar legislators moving to expand sports betting in Oregon, it’s likely only a matter of time until more sportsbooks bring their mobile apps to this region.
Oregon State Lottery Commission
It’s ultimately a good thing that Oregon offers a legal and licensed sports betting platform for its resident gamblers. Sports bettors should never use an offshore or illegal betting site.
Offshore sites don’t have digital security that compares with what DraftKings and other licensed apps offer. No digital security means your personal information and any account funds are at risk of being taken by hackers and other cybercriminals.
